Despite its limited availability, the racing board game managed to amass a passionate cult following over the years, including a healthy competitive scene with monthly challenges, tournaments and a two-day Rallyman World Cup held in France.

Note that you can safely move diagonally into spaces like this, as long as you don't exceed the normal limits. Corner spaces have numbers in the middle which indicate the top gear in which you can safely navigate the corner. Exceed this number and you will lose control! I’d prepared for a more strategic style of gameplay and knew quite a lot about it, Rallyman GT was not going to be a party racing game like some. I’m not sure I had fully prepared for the simulation-esque puzzle-like gameplay that it offers. Mistakes, like in a real race, can be punishing, and this is a tactical battle for first place that may not be for everyone. Those that like the sound of it though, shouldn’t be disappointed.To enter a space adjacent to another player’s car, you must use a Gear die equal to or higher than the current Gear of the opponent’s car. If you were going Flat Out and would have suffered a Loss of Control as well as this effect, the Loss of Control is ignored. Weather: (Qty x 6) The weather will change from rain to sun, or vice versa! If you are on the wrong kind of tires, your dice pool and caution limit will be reduced. You might want to stop to change tires.

Losing dice from your available pool, akin to losing gears or brakes failing, can only be repaired by heading into the pits. You might also take some damage: at higher speeds (3,4,5th gear) and on more dangerous tiles (Yellow, Orange, Red). I can’t lie, I love motor racing. So it’s no surprise I would want to play Rallyman GT based on the theme alone. What is a surprise is how deep and tactical the game is, making each turn feel like a well-crafted puzzle. That element is what had my friends gripped, wanting to play again as soon as we’d finished. We’ve even arranged to continue with a championship, having races take place every couple of weeks! GT 4 are lighter, classic cars, and while they may not have the horsepower of the GT 5’s and GT 6’s, they more than make up for it in agility! GT 4... Some dice are safer than others: The white coast dice along with first and second gear only have one caution symbol on them while the other dice all have two. Early plays felt like it was a case of dropping down to the lowest gear and then speeding up to the highest gear, but further plays highlighted other factors that need to be considered.

The outside line:Some spaces have a caution triangle around the number. This indicates that you get an extra caution result when you pass that space in that gear.
