About this deal

I haven't proven that through testing, but I think it is a reasonable assumption. They may have slightly tuned the voicing between the 9's and 10's, but given that the drivers are very similar and made for the same material, I suspect the general tonal characteristics are very similar. The Diamond 10.1 is based on the hugely successful 9.1, while showcasing a number of impressive improvements. Most notably, the cabinet of the 10.1 has been redesigned with greater internally braced curved sides. This ensures that the cabinet walls are protected from bending or flexing while in use so you can enjoy a crystal clear and immaculately pure performance. High-Calibre Construction The first speaker to emerge from the Diamond 10 Series is the Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 - the latest evolution of the classic Wharfedale Diamond 'bookshelf' speaker. Replacing the hugely successful, multi-award winning Diamond 9.1, the new speaker aims to build upon its exceptional heritage by delivering even better sonic value. This enable the relatively simple crossover to yield a phase perfect integration to the treble unit throughout the whle crossover region, creating a soundstage which is free from the speakers and allowing the drive units to work as a cohesive whole. The fact that you don't find yourself drawn to either the bass or treble of these speakers is testament to their even tonal balance.

Consequently, the Wharfedales produce a surprisingly mature sound for the money. Listen to Ellie Goulding's Starry Eyed and her dulcet tones are beautifully reproduced in a sweet-sounding and natural manner. Warm rich tones, taunt musical bass and airy non-fatiguing highs. The Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 are absolutely stunning stand mounts, but they aren't without flaws. I've owned these guys for 6 months and couldn't be happier but I thought I would lay out what these give you, and what they don't.Each satellite uses a two-way driver arrangement, comprising a3in mid/bass driver fashioned from woven propylene, and a 0.75in silk dome tweeter.

In terms of my expectations, the Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 speakers have provided me with the sonic surprise of the year thus far. They excite and delight sure but they also add a drop of magic to the mix that demands your attention.

The ensuing pursuit of the invading Frost Giants showcases more of this solid bass work, alongside crisp mids and highs that fire across the expansive soundstage. It’s thrilling stuff, managing to sound aggressive and dynamic without stepping over the line into harshness.
