About this deal

We're as guilty as anyone of getting excited about shiny new gear and features, but let's not lose sight of the gear we already have by our side. Though the CMOS imager used by the 400D is the same physical size as the version in the 350D, Canon crammed more pixels into the space to bump up the resolution and improved the design of the microlenses that sit atop each photosite -- the microlenses gather indirect light and focus it back on the sensor -- as well as increases the size of the photosites themselves. The A100 takes Compactflash as its preferred format, but users of the Memorystick need not worry as the camera comes with a CF adapter to put your Memorystick into and use in the camera. Canon is not planning to do away with the EOS 350D, and the presence of a new model doesn't make that great model obsolete. Speaking about the bayonet mount, Pentax have included the PKA mount to enable compatibility with all older bayonet Pentax lenses including the manual PK mount.

I've also volunteered with a cat rescue for over 15 years doing adoptions, designing marketing materials, managing volunteers and, of course, photographing cats.It feels solid, weighty and comfortable thanks to the large grip and the chunkiness makes you feel more masculine which is great if you're a man.

This means if you have been a friend of Pentax since the old days and have a lot of the old lenses, they will fit on the K100D Super however, the camera has to be set up in the custom functions so it knows that a manual lens or extension tubes are attached. The zoom on the lens is smooth and the manual focus is operated using the very front of the lens barrel where the filters go. Don't let this put you off as the body has a double mount to accept the mount of the kit lens and the normal EF lenses. some interesting tables that can be found here Just input a few distances, apertures etc and compare a few different makes. The power switch is located around the shutter release with the info button which displays the current settings of the camera and aperture operation button located just behind so they are quick to the finger.Quote: I see plenty of macro shots with a shallow depth of field, for example flowers use a shallow dof, focusing on the centre. The camera comes with the Manual in both paper and CD formats, a quick start guide in pocket size which is quite handy, battery, a promotional CD on EF lenses, strap, basic promotional material, USB, AV lead, charger and drivers which includes Zoombrowser EX 5.

The headlines features for the EOS 400D are its ten megapixel sensor, nine-point AF sensor (from the EOS 30D) and new 'EOS Integrated Cleaning System'. However, a smaller sensor usually means more noise which may mean that in the Noise test, the Olympus may suffer more than the others at higher ISO ratings. n\n EF lenses and accessories\nThe EOS 400D is compatible with all of the more than 60 EF and EF-S lenses and all EX Series Speedlite flash units. You can turn it off altogether, but the info in the viewfinder doesn't include ISO speed, white balance, battery level, and other useful settings that generally display on a status LCD.

The Canon EOS 400D's LCD's status display is extremely useful and easy to read, and it provides a single place to change all the relevant settings. I'm sure there are many Olympus E-series owners having a chuckle at this moment, through the many years of 'there is no dust problem' emanating from Canon owners to see Canon now admit (but also address) the potential problem. simply doesn't let in enough light and doesn't allow for a shallow enough depth of field for our purposes. The 400D is one of the smallest in the test and a lot of people shy away because they are too small to cope with. Why do you even go into the menu, everything can be done on the control panel on the screen, just press OK and navigate there. In addition to dust control, Canon has split the low-pass filter into two parts, effectively placing whatever dust does settle beyond the range of focus. Starting out, we stuck to the even-my-grandmother-could-use-this fully automatic setting, as we slowly waded into further settings, such as the 400D's user-selectable nine-point auto-focus system. The 400D uses Canon's Digic II chipset rather than the newer Digic III, and we wonder if the company might have been able to eke out better performance and noise suppression with the latter.
