I first run a vote on Youtube, I asked if it was okay to receive products for free and then provide an honest review. It lacks the coil-split, but offered a better out-of-the-box setup(at least my copy) and better sounding, less spanky neck single-coil. My teen daughter just started taking guitar lessons and she was so excited to try an electric guitar.

They're still not as precise as a more expensive set, but they are a marked improvement and don't take nearly as much fiddling. But if you want a coil-split, HSS pickup configuration, and all the needed accessories in one package, Donner DST-152 is a great option. All in all, from the guitar to the bag to the tuner, it’s a great kit and seems like an absolute steal for a beginner.If you’ve been playing for a long time (I haven’t), your standards might be different than mine; then again, you might also have a field day modifying this guitar with different pickups and tuners, a new bridge, et cetera. I’m not experienced at all with partscasters, builds, etc, but I was fooling around and thought about this. I got the one in ice blue because I’m really big on grayish shades of blue when it comes to my gear. Damage to your instrument caused by neglecting the instructions above or subjecting your instrument to extreme temperatures will not be covered under Donner warranty. Not only was it sitting at the freight depot for five days, it would have been longer before I received the guitar if I didn't make the trip into Toowoomba to pick it up from their depot! Tone is acceptable but nothing earth-shattering, and if I played “clean” more often, I might want something nicer. To be honest, the reviewer said that all I would need to do is put new strings on the guitars, and I did that —and I can’t tell you how happy I am with these wonderful guitars! But still, everything else is working well and is well assembled, so that’s why I won’t complain more about these small flaws in a cheap guitar.The fret edges are not so sharp that they bothered me every time I played, but I noticed it once in a while.

For example in my home office, I didn’t experience any unwanted hum or buzz, but I did notice the pickup switch making little craking noises a couple of times, but the missing shielding was probably not the reason for this. On that one, the keys slip and don't "catch" easily, making tuning a slower process than it needs to be. It wouldn’t be fair to compare this guitar against a genuine Fender Stratocaster, or even one of the slightly lower-end MIM or MIJ Strats. If you really get into your guitar, you’ll want to pick out your picks so that you can have the look and thickness that works for you. All too often with inexpensive guitars, pickups are an afterthought, but we actually got some nice tones from them.

Hopefully, if I never learn (because this one is for me, my daughter have 2 acoustic ones and my son an ukulele), one day before my time ends, one of them play to me at the tune of Santana (one of my favorites) or even like those "Spanish trios". Make sure you keep holding the string straight and the string should pass through the nut (Figure 2. After adjusting the neck relief, then you should also adjust the string height/action at the bridge. I tried my player series Strat neck, and it seems to fit, but the lip of the strat neck seems to be a little higher than the Donner.
