About this deal

I liked that the pages feel friendly and they’re not too busy and over-stimulating with information and illustrations (everything is nice and neat). Additionally, it instills in children the value of travel and adventure in helping them to extend their perspectives and gain a better understanding of the world. In each place, there would be many interesting facts to read about, including the geography, weather, and food. While many books of this kind can be over crowded with facts, this one wasn't - a definite perk in my opinion.

Page turns cleverly generate and alleviate suspense, making it an integral part of the storytelling experience. Playful illustrations done with stylized realism lend warmth and whimsy to the book, making each locale feel welcoming. These countries include Costa Rica, India, Morocco, Greece, Canada, Brazil, France, Botswana, China, Philippines, Australia, United States, and Jordan.

The narrator in this book visits friends in 13 different countries, narrating each of them through sampling foods, viewing land marks, attending cultural events and more. A Ticket Around the Word is a great book by Melissa Owens and Natalia Diaz, illustrator by Kim Smith (2015), the plot is about a principal character a young boy who hops around the world, visiting friends in 13 different countries spanning all six continents. For a classroom activity, students could be placed in groups based on the countries or areas of the world that are visited in the book. As the young boy visits each place, he meets friends who share with him important facts about the country. In the classroom, this book could be so helpful in the classroom library for students to learn more about other cultures in the world. This book teaches about the environment, customs, language, food, and much more for each place that he visits. The vivid and bright illustrations help draw the reader in and make the reader eager to turn the page. I think it’s a good nonfiction book that takes a brief look at different countries around the world. I think this picture book would be best utilized in 2nd grade and up to ensure that the bulkiness of the information is both informative but also attainable to the students that you read this book too.
