About this deal

Only 4 this time because even though the book was very good, it was so far off base from his usual stuff. Also gives kids ideas for what they can do until they're old enough to vote themselves, with tons of examples.

Not just that, the fact that Harry WENT TO WORK the next day, was just so stupidly unbelievable to me. However, thankfully the shaky start was soon forgotten, as I became immersed in the action and mystery. I watched the TV adaptation of this book growing up, and it's one of those thats always stuck in my head. Harry French is woken in the night, only a faint noise but it's not his wife Alice, she's still fast asleep next to him and their 8 week old baby Evie hasn't yet woken for her feed. The pickings of would-be murderers are rich, since they include some of The Mousetrap’s original cast, Richard Attenborough (Harris Dickinson) and Sheila Sim (Pearl Chanda).Every four years elections roll around and it seems like all talk is about politics and the candidates. In real life, both the US and Israel (along with 64 other nations) would boycott the 1980 Olympics due to the Soviet-Afghan War.

We don’t find out much about the victims (or see their personalities), we just know that they have an urgent drive and determination to be safe. While Alice and Harry French are in bed, sleep deprived from being new parents, they are awakened to masked men in their bedroom. His dangerous odyssey takes him across Europe, and finally to the Olympics, straight to one of the most shattering surprises in suspense fiction. Full of action and interesting characters the story flows well and builds up to a thrilling conclusion. I loved a lot of the characters in this novel, some more than others and Tom Bale really has a knack for descriptive writing that not only enables us to picture the characters well, but the environment and peripheral things going on. A seemingly innocent couple get caught up in an out of control situation that leaves them running to protect each other and their infant daughter. I thought that was a really good book (though this one is even better) and couldn’t understand why he didn’t have more of a fan base.

By cutting out much of the middle section and editing down the cringe-worthy dialog, SEE HOW THEY RUN could be fashioned into a great little novella. And of course, in particular, we were very careful about not spoiling the carefully kept reveal that they have in their story. This is no burglary, these 2 men, wearing masks are looking for a certain person and something that's been delivered.

While this book is geared for intermediate and middle school students, pieces of it can be used to teach the primary grades about the election process.

With traditional elements (table of contents, index, additional resources, glossary, and presidential facts) this combines the best of "textbook" elements with the highest qualities of picture books. I don't know a word to describe it, but this story features a Black man who only dates White women because Black women don't "treat him right," and his sister has a problem with it. The text also works to remain neutral by providing both good and bad historical examples of the different political parties that have shaped (and continue to shape) America.

I’d like to see Rockwell and Ronan reunited for a complete new detective franchise, our two cop heroes perhaps encountering Dorothy L Sayers and Ngaio Marsh. This isn't a perfect book—I didn't feel that we got to know any of the characters enough, and many of the villains are just shadowy characters. See How They Run: Campaign Dreams, Election Schemes, and the Race to the White House is a book about trivia surrounding presidential campaign runs. I think the victims’ first reaction was a little underplayed (I would have thought they’d freak out more, or talk about it more—not try to get back to sleep! What could be worse than a couple of psychopaths charging into your bedroom in the middle of the night and roughing you up?
