They can be used to stitch cracks (both vertical and stepped) and reinforce or repair lintels around windows and doors. The Helifix HeliBar is a helical stainless steel reinforcing bar, with substantial tensile properties, used for strengthening and stabilising masonry in both new build and remedial situations. Stainless steel bars for crack stitching are supplied in lots of 500 and packed in resale bundles of 10 and 25. A quick and simple brick reinforcement method, it’s the go-to solution for the majority of brick lintel repairs.
Helical bars can transform existing brickwork into retrofit masonry beams or reinforced brick lintels. They can also be used to re-tie a range of materials such as clay, brick, stone and concrete blocks. To ensure the rod is appropriately encapsulated, use a trowel or pointing iron to compress any displaced grout. This cement-based anchoring grout provides a powerful bond and imparts long-term stability, maintaining maximum contact with the brickwork.
