That HDR10 and Dolby Vision works wonders with these colors, bring them new life in a more realistic transfer this time around. times even general detail levels, but I found the sixth and seventh seasons in particular to be quite good in both of those regards. I do expect that will change in the future (they also said GoT would not be coming to 4K at all last year, and now it is here), but for now you will only be able to watch 4K with a physical disc.

And though it’s not a bonus disc, don’t forget that HBO made a change to Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season after eagle-eyed fans detected the likeness of a certain political figure as one of the severed heads in the season’s final episode. Game of Throneswas the first hour-long HBO drama to be shot entirely in digital (minus a few scenes from the unaired pilot that made their way into the very first episode). The first three seasons were shot in 10-bit 4:4:4 at 1920x1080 resolution using then prototype ARRI Alexa cameras (save for a bit of footage in the first episode that was actually shot on 35 mm film, left over from HBO’s original failed pilot). For Season One the captured image was recorded on HDCAM SR videotape using a tape-based workflow, with color correction done on set. All seventy-three episodes are included on thirty 4K Ultra HD discs, which actually do include significant special features too. Can't remember if I read it on here but someone mentioned they'd found scratched discs in their set.

Pro-Res and ARRIRAW format for the remainder of the series, using Arri Alexa Mini, XT, and SXT Plus cameras with Cooke S4 and Angenieux Optimo Lenses (note that some location photography was also done with Red Epic-M Dragon cameras in 6K Redcode RAW). From Season 4 the capture resolution was increased to 2880p (3K) and RED Epic Dragon (6K RAW) cameras were introduced for selected shots. Additionally, most all the previously released bonus features and commentary tracks have been imported over here from past releases. The color palette is quite bold in any lands of Westeros and it is revealed in each season that boasts both earthy tones and magical realms with everything in between to a tee.

It has a prestigious appearance and is worthy of a final box set for an all-time great show like Game of Thrones.

For gorehounds, the crunching of bones, slices of flesh, and gooey entrail explosions all pack a great amount of squish and goop to remarkable effect. With this 4K Complete Collection though, each episode has a wonderful upgrade with Dolby Vision and HDR10, along with a Dolby Atmos track on every episode, which might be worth the purchase alone. The collection itself comes in a tin box which looks in line with the GOT theme and makes sure the steelbooks themself are well protected. Across the landscape to much warmer climates are Casterly Rock and Essos where amber, orange, yellow and red are the main colors on display.
More are still being written by Martin, but producers David Benioff and DB Weiss had to conclude their series’ story on their own, based upon the author’s outline for his final novels.
