One is short and can be used when the mini PC is using the mounting plate on the back of your display. Beelink kindly sent one for review and I’ve looked at performance running both Windows and Ubuntu together with using an eGPU. Powering up the mini PC and hitting the F7 key results in a boot menu which includes access to the BIOS. As an actively cooled mini PC, it uses AMD’s older 12 nm Zen+ Ryzen 7 3750H Picasso processor which is a quad-core 8-thread 2. These computing superpowers can - and do - provide extras such as next business day onsite support to sort out any potential hardware problems, something that smaller outfits such as Beelink will struggle to deliver.We appreciate that Beelink is offering the SER3 as ready-to-go PCs complete with RAM and storage whereas Intel NUCs are almost always sold as barebone SKUs. The USB-C port supports DisplayPort-out, but it would strangely only work with some and not all of our external monitors.

First impressions are strong albeit not as rigid as an Intel NUC which utilizes thicker and heavier metal materials. Given the improved Unigine Heaven score using the combination of increased POR and overclocked dual-channel memory I decided to test three games under Steam on Windows (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Grand Theft Auto V, and Shadow Of The Tomb Raider) at both 1080p and 720p using default settings in both CS:GO and GTA V and with the graphical presets of low and high in the built-in benchmark of SOTTR. With an NVMe slot and a SATA connector, you will be able to expand the device to a staggering 16TB by swapping the existing system SSD for an 8TB one and adding a secondary 8TB SATA SSD. You can find a cheaper computer with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage but it won’t offer anywhere near the same performance level. These include benchmarking the performance of web browsing, working with office documents, through to image and video editing.
Prior to benchmarking, I perform all necessary installations and updates to run the latest versions of both OSes. Noting that the PassMark rating only improved slightly as whilst the 3D Graphics Mark increased from 2343.
