About this deal

The shape is perfect for me. I'm about 90% palm grip, 10% finger tip grip with medium-sized hands. My thumb sits mostly on the 5 button with the 1-3 row easily reachable with my thumb's tip. My ring and pinky fingers sit comfortably, and my pinky is able to provide lots of grip without cramping. In general, the grooves of this mouse are very ergonomic and satisfying. The Corsair Scimitar RGB Elite features the iCue software. With the software, you can program the macro bank to be able to do whatever you want. The buttons’ programming is pretty easy. You just need to select one of the buttons, hit the record icon, and proceed with whatever you want that button to do, and it is saved. You can create as many button profiles as you want in the Synapse, but only one profile can be saved on Naga’s memory.

The Naga X relies on Razer Synapse—the company’s configuration software—for button mapping, RGB customization, and other setting changes. The app has a clean interface that makes it easy to find and change any setting you want. For the Naga X, specifically, Razer Synapse features a separate screen for customizing the side buttons, which cuts down on clutter and makes it easy to see what you’ve mapped to each button. Years ago, I played WoW and decided to get a Redragon M901. It was all I could afford at the time, and I didn't know any better anyway.Given the MMO moniker of the mouse, it's best to go to the source. I loaded up World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV to test the mouse out. By default, the 12 thumbpad buttons are all bound to corresponding number keys, with the 10 button being 0, and the 11 and 12 buttons being the minus and equal keys, respectively. This means the default setting has the standard MMO hotbar bound to the thumbpad. During testing, I found that hitting 1-3 and 10-12 were pretty easy, as they occupy the outside edges of the thumbpad. The issue was in the 4-9 buttons. They're simply too close together, and the differentiation in angle isn't big enough to consistently hit the right button. The buttons are different heights, but the differences are so slight that it doesn’t matter. It's very easy to press the wrong buttons in the middle rows. Overall, the Razer Naga design has not changed a lot, it has a small resting place for your finger on the right side, and the general shape of the mouse fits nicely in your hand. The Naga X is 119.13 x 74.50 x 42.93mm, and it weighs about 110g.

The Naga X is wired-only but honestly doesn’t feel like it. It comes with Razer’s Speedflex cable, which offers next to no resistance and is ultra-flexible. Pair this with the same brand of PTFE mouse feet found on Razer’s highest-end mice and you have the recipe for an MMO mouse that glides like a dream, even on a bare desk. The Naga X is also much lighter than its siblings in the Naga range, which is great for anyone who prefers keeping their mouse as light as possible. It weighs in at 85 grams, which is far below the 117 grams of the Naga Pro. It's also wired, which is still the gold standard for many PC gamers, even as wireless tech continues to get much better. The biggest thing to be aware of is that this is still very much a mouse targeted at MMO gamers. While you can certainly use the 12 side buttons in other games, they might be a bit over-the-top in most cases. There are two RGB lighting zones on the Naga X: on the scroll wheel and the 12-button thumbpad. Unlike many gaming mice, the logo by the palm does not have RGB. I bought the Corsair Scimitar RGB Elite, for its grip and adjustable number pad. At the time, I could not find a mouse under about 120g. I thought the mouse felt okay, definitely better than the Redragon regarding grip. Unfortunately, it was still heavy, and the number buttons were too easy to press (many accidental presses). The rubber grip is also a little rough/pokey. Needless to say, i was having some regrets about the mouse's price tag.

Despite the fact that it has so many inputs, it would have been nice if Razer put more Naga Pro premium features in the Naga X. Specifically, I wish more mice had tilting scroll wheel inputs, which are great for macros and miscellaneous keys in custom setups. I also wouldn’t have minded if Razer kept more RGB lighting. As it stands, only the scroll wheel and side pad numbers light up. I assume these features were taken out to cut down on weight and/or price, but they would have gone a long way towards making the mouse feel more substantial. With only weight and the standard MMO side pad to set it apart, the Naga X feels a bit basic on paper. While Razer has improved the button feel over the years, those 12 side buttons are still just as great as ever in MMO settings, whether that's with World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV, or whatever your game of choice is. You can easily bind all of your action buttons to the mouse, putting them within rach of your thumb at all times and freeing up your keyboard hand to focus on movement or your most important keybinds. Throw in keyboard modifiers, and you open up from 12 buttons to 24, 36, and even more.Your contract with the Viper Devil has a condition that allows him to spend the night with you whenever he pleases. But we are finally getting some amazing MMO mice now. With the Scimitar, you get a huge CPI range savable on multiple profiles. Also, you can adjust its handy macro bank to fit in your hand as you like.
