About this deal

Write a report about the solar system and the stars. What do you already know? What would you like to find out? The word ‘around’ contains the sound ‘ou’. Ask your child to list as many words as they can containing the‘ou’sound.

And while I loved the messages about family and friends and finding what you're looking for, at the same time, I honestly thought the ending was going to be different, and I think that's where this left me a little dissatisfied. I was curious to see where the author was going - was she going to realize her dream at the end, and travel in space? Was she going to pass away and through death, finally see the stars (was totally preparing myself for this)? Was she going to find Earth family and space friends and a way to bridge the two? The ending as it turned out just felt a bit... rushed? Forced? Heavy-handed? I don't know quite how to say it, other than it just didn't quite satisfy me after how much I enjoyed the rest of the book. It wasn't bad, just not as good as the rest. What did you think of The 'Three Little Wolves' story above? I'd like you to write a letter to explain to Mummy Wolf all that has happened. Don't forget to tell her all about the different animals that helped you and use your emotion vocabulary to tell her how scared you were each time.....try to use different words that all mean scared (like terrified or frightened) to make it interesting for the reader. Choose letters that make words that can be read phonetically. Write the letters in chalk on the ground outside. Give your child a word and they must spell it by jumping from letter to letter. This could also be done on paper inside the house.Carry out some role-play activities in which one person imagines that they are Heather. What questions would you like to ask her? How might she respond? Recognise vowel and consonant digraphs and blending by playing this game or add suffixes playing this game. Write a letter from Heather to the alien from the time when she is waiting to meet her friend again. Use this link to find a video to explain todays learning when counting fractions. There are also challenges to go along with it that can be printed. In the following video, the author / illustrator answers questions from children in a primary school. What questions would you like to ask him?

Record the animals that have paw prints that will reach exactly 20 cm if they were placed one in front of the other. How did you find your answer? You could film them making it like my world kitchen (or just watch some of these for inspiration....who doesn't love Ainsley Harriet!)

How is life different for the current queen, Queen Elizabeth II? Ask your child to create a list of the similarities and differences. They might focus on appearance, family and interests. They could show this using illustrations too. Try it out with some objects to help you. Use even numbers only to start with (end in 0,2,4,6,8) You can use a bar model to help you. Your child could draw or paint a portrait of their significant somebody using a photograph or digital image to support them. They may wish to write an information report about this person too! Look through any books or magazines you might have and identify any places from around the world by looking at the illustrations. They could also look through a magazine or newspaper and find the names of different countries.

The other is parts of a plant for science. We started to explore this when we were outdoor learning in the school grounds: For maths use the 6th of May bitesize lesson today on number facts. This should recap and sharpen those skills. Its bye bye to fractions for a bit (some of you will be pleased to know) and onto measure. yay! You can start of by using items from the house. Which things are longer and which things are shorter? How many tins of beans high are you? Your younger brother? How many high is Mum or Nan? The very next morning I woke to the clanging, metal sound of the washing machine turning over downstairs........Imagine that Heather tells her son about the adventures that she has had with the alien. What would she say? Could you write or record that story? And so they decided to wrap all of the toys in cling film so they could never get dirty again!' But how will you get to it?
