About this deal

Sillage: past arm's length for around the first 5 hours and then it draws itself closer until about the 7th hour where it becomes a skin scent

This is my cousins wife's signature scent( and by signature I mean the only scent she wears! For 30+ years). I think its very fitting to her persona, she is gregarious, laughs easily, flirty and fun loving. She has the same birthday as I do( both Sagittarius girls) and we both like similar jewelry, clothing etc. I get sweet, woodsy, a tiny bit powdery...like a nightclub, much less screechy version oif Giorgio. I can't imagine wearing it myself as outs "her" scent but I enjoy it. A twilight scent that wears well into the night. The glossy cherry is prominent at the opening but dries down into that pipe tobacco scent. It even reminds me a little of People of The Labyrinths “Luctor et Emergo”. It might have very faint red door DNA but nothing that offends me, and red door offends all my senses bar visual. I had this a few years ago and LOVED it! A little goes a long way. I love its sweetness - like biting into a chewy fruit candy paired with more sophisticated woody tones - YUM! I decided this would be my new signature (as Elysium is sadly discontinued) and bought a new bottle. To my horror the new one smelt awful! The sweetness was overpowered by something else - something so awful I can't even describe it! Not sure if I got one that was off or if they changed the formula. Either way, I haven't been game to try again. It really is a lightly sweet, warm cherry with a nutty almond base. Not nauseatingly synthetic or overly sour. Its nice and subtle.

However this had a huge potential to me. Sadly did not make up to expectations as the beautiful opening cherry smell is gone in approximately 10 minutes from spraying and you are left with the well known BR450-esque base, as the person before me perfectly described. Longevity and sillage are poor. This is not something I would normally smell and buy on the spot, got the bottle second hand and I can definitely see the potential in it for a new love.

Guess Seductive Red (GSR) is a cheerful, airy perfume. There isn’t anything seductive about it. A more appropriate name would’ve been ‘Cherry in the Air’ haha ;) I imagine a youthful lady (or young at heart woman) sitting in a flower garden, enjoying cherry Jolly Ranchers on a warm, sunny day. I agree 100% with what Ashley Scent Me said in her review of this perfume. I couldn't have said it better myself. Definitely a body spray in a pretty red bottle. I LOVE the scent! I just wish it would last longer!! I also have to say my 14 year daughter likes it too!!!! Usually she likes the sweet scents that are out there, but she surprises me now and then: she loves Boucheron (original) and now this :) Perfect for day and night time use (Does have that slightly more night time feel about it) and also smells and feels like Autumn when you wear it! So great for the fall season. Like many reviewers, I'd describe Always Red as smelling fairly dense and jammy, a bit boozy, quite deep and in some ways intense but not to hugely stink bomb levels. I disagree with many though who compare it to Si which I've sniffed a few times in department stores and I don't recall it smelling at all like this! As mentioned above though, it definitely reminds me of Alien in some ways but to me is a lot more likeable and (no pun intended!!) is far less alienating! Another perfume it reminds me of is a Chopard one I blind bought over the internet a few years ago which was in a heart shaped bottle but I can't remember the name of it and it since went AWOL (and it may have since been discontinued). That perfume also had the intense fruity 'jamminess' of Always Red but was less likeable to me.I tried this at my local pharmacy in New Zealand this week. Initially the SA said you have to wait until the alcohol burns off - not a good comment or start of a sales pitch. She had put the body cream on one arm and gave me the paper swatch to smell. I could not smell anything. I then asked for a spray on the arm without the cream. Again, no scent. It was only about 1.5 hours later that I could smell the base notes on my arm. The body cream never smelt. However on paper it came to fullness the next day. Sweet and fruity with a tiny bit of woods. My husband said "I don't like I". It does not give me the sunny day vibe, that gives "Si". On the contrary, I'd rather wear Always Red at evenings, maybe on a date. This is much deeper and more sensual, reminds me scene from the movies, like a dinner in Paris, when two sitting on terrace late night, drinking red wine and chatting. The overall effect of the vintage is a voluptuous, rounder, more velvety scent than the current formulation. The vintage, if applied with a light hand, is admittedly a tad dated, but the difference to my nose is attending a Wagner opera in person vs. listening to a recording, of a recording. Whoa, 80's powerhouse indeed! Crimped hair, bright makeup and stone washed jeans! Actually, this is more the bitchin feathered hair, tight fitting dresses with big shoulder pads (think Dynasty, i.e. Joan Collins).

Perfect for fall I'd say and good for winter as well but honestly... I will wear this on colder summer nights, I can't wait until autumn. Giorgio Red was never ever a fragrance I wore in the past and in fact, I had a former employee who was older and she wore it quite beautifully. I just never gave a thought to wanting to wear it myself.I adore this perfume! Can't stop wearing nor can I keep my 24, 26 and 28 yr old daughters out of it when they come over. Plush incense and “cherry sweets” smoke. Not cigarette smoke but sweet pipe tobacco and cigar smoke.

This was a safe blind-buy for me, but may not be for others for two reasons: (i) some may find it too strong; and (ii) this may not work with all body chemistries. If you can test it first, do so. It’s sort of a dark, quiet beauty that’s compelling in a confident way, the one with something deep and interesting to say but in no hurry to share it; the introverted guest walking along cement form promenades in the moonlight, while everyone else is dancing the night away in the ballroom. This is 90% similar to Si but still noticeably warmer, smoother, different. I can see someone not liking Si, but loving Always Red. The praline makes it unmistakably gourmand and the absence of patchouli makes it so much more wearable! It's a grown-up, sophisticated gourmand, not at all juvenile. Enchanting... I'm wearing this to bed on a warm summer night and this smells enchanting. The blast of the juiciest plum and blood orange combo you could think of in the opening followed by rose and praline- it all comes together so wonderfully to form a sweet (but not cloying), alluring, feminine and interesting fragrance.Deep sweet warm possibly a scent that your mum would wear. This opinio was given by someone in their twenties and they liked a Tommy Hilfiger I had on over all the others. Although I would say it's better suited to the cold season, I always picture myself on an alley full of pink cherry blossom trees smelling exactly like this.(although those trees smell nothing like the actual cherries as far as I heard ). So it is more like a spring fantasy smell in the middle of winter, if it makes any sense:). Now, I never did wear RED that often, in fact, I probably could count on one hand, the number of times I reached for her and gave her a go in the first 6 months that I had her. She was the STRONGEST and LOUDEST perfume that I had EVER smelled at that point in my life (and I came of age in the ‘80’s people..so that’s sayin’ somethin’! LOL). It’s very elegant, and to me very tasteful. I saw a woman and her daughter on YouTube completely bash this! I don’t know why? I guess we all have different opinions?! My Mom bought me the BIG 3.4 ouncer of RED for Christmas 1989. I remember that time in my life VERY VIVIDLY. I was a 19 year Gal who had just fallen head over heels in love for the very first time, and those memories are absolutely ingrained in my brain. RED was there as a witness to that blissful time in my life, always making her presence known from her perch on top of my dresser, that was right beside my bed. Whether I wore her or not, my room was always permeated with her scent …because she was THAT STRONG…even just sitting there innocently on my dresser. Her fumes constantly wafted out from the glass and from under her hat cap.
