About this deal

With this said, Cleverhood cleverly (haha) used interwoven reflective thread to make the cape reflective from passing headlights. pretty cool! It will last longer than other cheaper brands, actually does it’s job, and you look good. What really sold me on this poncho is that I can use it not only for cycling, but on other rainy adventures. Stylish and Hip –One of the reasons I wanted to try out this poncho was simply because it looks cool. It has a stylish look, and you’re guaranteed to get compliments while wearing it. Too many other ponchos and rain capes make you look like you’re wearing a trash bag. I won’t lie, I now get a little excited for rain so that I can wear this poncho while riding.

It has a hood with a little bill on it to keep your head and face protected from rain. It’s lightweight but does its job of keeping you dry. And they do say there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing. An old cliché, but true. There‘s no reason why we can’t cycle for work and pleasure, all year round, just because of the Gulf Stream. Available in three colours, including ‘Indian red’ and the (very visible) ‘lemon’, there’s also no doubt that you’ll be seen in murky conditions. Years ago I found myself at work needing to pedal home. The trouble is that a storm had rolled into town and the rain was pouring! But the problem with rain is that there’s always the issue of what to wear. Rain doesn’t always equal cold. And even when it is cold, you’re likely to heat up as you ride. With the wrong clothing, you can end up feeling like a ‘boil in the bag’. Not a good look (or feeling). The only downside of the People’s Poncho is the cost. It’s not the cheapest way to keep yourself dry while cycling, but in my opinion its benefits are worth the extra money. It is miserable finding yourself caught in the rain with nothing to protect you from getting wet. One option for staying dry while on a rainy day is to invest in a proper cycling rain cape. It’s crafted out of waterproof polyester that is durable and seam sealed. You won’t need to worry about water getting through.

This is a photo of me being so happy to use my new rain cape on a ride from Amsterdam to Leiden. Rain capes are THE BEST! There are nylon hand loops made to keep it from lifting in the wind. Paired with fenders on your bike you’ll be nice and dry. It could be useful for storing your poncho after the rainy months pass or also easy to bring with you for a ride if there’s chance of showers. This cycling poncho is long and stylish for your commute. It features inner hand loops, an adjustable hood, taped seams and inner waist ties to keep it firmly in place – no billowy Marilyn Monroe effect here. Brooks England is primarily known for their saddle, but they’ve branched out to make this trendy rain cape. If style is your priority, then this cape is for you. Straps for Cycling –Under the poncho there’s two straps that you can grab while holding the handlebars. This creates a small canopy to protect your legs from getting wet. A simple concept, but works really well. They also have a strap that can cinch around your waist to keep the poncho covering your torso. Without this, windy weather would turn your poncho into a superhero cape and you’d get soaking wet. These handlebar and waist straps are what sets this poncho apart from other “cycling ponchos.” Ponchos and capes are equipped with an extra long tail. This means you can either sit on the fabric to keep your saddle dry, or use the additional length to cover your seat entirely. These garments provide you with full cycling coverage from your head to your thighs, you can even get longer ones that cover your handlebars too! Although I have all the gear from a raincoat, to waterproof pants; gaiters to brollies, sometimes you simply need something easy for the rainiest of days. And something which doesn’t look too out of place in the city. I will admit that gaiters are a strange look when wandering around central Manchester – even when they are needed on a very flooded Market Street!
