About this deal

When you first start using your StarSense camera, you will need to calibrate it to the center of your telescope’s field of view. This only needs to be done once, and you should do it after your initial auto star-alignment routine. Based on the information it captures, the StarSense AutoAlign can create an accurate model of the night sky. Once this alignment process is complete, you can select any celestial object in the hand controller’s database, and StarSense will automatically center the object in your eyepiece or astrophotography camera. The most common problem is time/date/location etc. But if your tablet is connected to the Internet then Location Sevices will fix that provided you have time = now set as well as current time and current location. I got caught out by this a few times where I had looked ahead in the star chart and then didn't restore time = now. But if you have tried both SkyPortal and SkySafari this is unlikely. Our recommendation from the Explorer range would be the StarSense Explorer DX 130AZ,which is simple to use with the Starsense app - ideal for beginners and experienced astronomers alike.

Become an instant astronomer, even if you’ve never used a telescope before, with the one-of-a-kind StarSense AutoAlign. Just set up the accessory, push the Align button on the hand control, and StarSense begins capturing and comparing images of the night sky against its internal database. In about three minutes, it's gathered enough information to triangulate its position and align itself. Then, press the Sky Tour button: StarSense will automatically slew to all the best stars, planets, galaxies, and more currently visible in the night sky.Generally, the consensus is yes, this device is well worth the money. The only potential headaches you may experience are in the setup stages, particularly with the location settings and camera calibration process. CPWI is compatible with all new Celestron computerized telescopes equipped with the Nexstar+ hand control, StarSense hand control, or integrated WiFi (such as NexStar Evolution and Astro Fi WiFi). Please see the full list compatible telescope mounts below to confirm your mount is compatible with CPWI. CGX-L Finance is only available to permanent UK residents aged between 18 and 80, subject to status, terms and conditions apply.

Please note This StarSense works with Celestron and SkyWatcher Goto telescopes and mounts, the interface box is included for use on SkyWatcher models and not used on Celestron models.Popular new additions to the range include the StarSense Explorer 8" Dobsonian Telescope and the StarSense Explorer 150MM Tabletop Dobsonian Telescope. Recommended by PicStop My advice? If you want the auto-align but don't need a guide camera, forget the new StarSense. Get the old one, which costs just over half what the new none does. Worth a mention are the Royal Observatory Greenwich StarsSense Explorer DX 100AZ and the latest version of the StarSense Explorer 130MM Tabletop Dobsonian Telescope. Looking for ideas or guidance? The self-alignment technology behind our award-winning SkyProdigy series is now available for most of Celestron's current computerized telescopes and compatible with many older models as well. (See compatibility list below.) Celestron and PlaneWave Instruments have joined forces to develop specialized telescope control software that is now included with all new Celestron computerized telescope mounts. Celestron PWI (CPWI) Telescope Control Software unleashes the full pointing accuracy of your new Celestron computerized telescope.
