About this deal

Whatever style you prefer, you’ll be able to find a lamp you like in our wide selection. How do you choose a floor lamp? The right spot to place a floor lamp depends on the type of lamp you have and your lighting needs. If the lamp is designed for directional task lighting, you should consider having it above or behind a sofa, armchair or table. This way, the lamp doesn’t get in your way and provides the light you need. If you can’t choose, you can combine! In our wide range you can find floor lamps with dual light sources that can be switched on and off separately. This way, you’ll always have the right lighting for whatever you need. For example, with lamps like FLUGBO, you get both a flexible spotlight for task lighting and an uplighter to light up the rest of the room. Where should you put floor lamps? It seems silly but this is really important. If you’re based in Aberdeen we need to know that, as it may affect our expenses budget so at least we can flag it up with your agent when calling you in rather than going through four recalls only to find that you can’t afford the travel and turn the job down!

Try to film a self-tape as soon as you reasonably can to give yourself time to fix any problems. We know sometimes it can be hard, especially if you have been given a short amount of time to prepare, but often the casting director will be eager to see tapes from the moment that the first one is submitted. With dozens of different roles being taken on in the world of theatre, from performers and directors to technicians and artists, there is a place for everyone. At Spotlight Theatre we take the time to help people find their talent and nurture it. Whether they want to sing from the rooftops or design the rooftops themselves, each part is as vital as the next. We want you to have fun whilst learning important skills that can be applied to all aspects of life as well as the performing arts.

Where should you put floor lamps?

It doesn’t matter how old you are – it’s how old we believe you are. Nowadays I see more and more people putting their actual age and, speaking for myself, as long as you’ve taken note of point one above, it’s never made me not call someone in that I would have. So I’d say that’s entirely your call. Different types of floor lamps provide different types of lighting. Standing standard lamps like ÅSTRID are generally for the benefit of the whole room. Task lighting on the other hand, like our RANARP lamp, focuses lighting in one area, perfect for reading or writing. Uplighters, like our NOT lamp for example, point towards the ceiling, which helps illuminate the whole room. Take a look at your photos. Do they still look like you? Are there too many? Casting directors tell us they only like to see 4-5 images of various expressions so less is definitely more. You don’t need to add production shots, just photos from your most recent headshot session. Also please, please call out all the things you are highly skilled at. Don’t be embarrassed! If you’re brilliant at something – tell us. Often I will search only for those who are highly skilled at whatever I’m looking for. However, this could be a pro if the power goes out or you’re on a boat or camping. Rechargeable spotlights typically rely on USB chargers, so they aren’t much use if there isn’t a power supply to plug it into when they die. IP Rating

Lumens indicate how much light streams through an area per second. Generally speaking, the higher the lumen output, the more light produced. A spotlight’s lumen output indicates its brightness power, but note that most lights begin to dim as the battery dies and as you use it longer. The higher the lumen output, the faster the battery drains, so if you’re in an emergency situation, make sure to use the dimmer mode or save your spotlight for when you really need it. How We Selected Tell us where you trained and when you graduated. Most of us have been to your showcases and, whilst we may not immediately remember your name, this might help to jog our memory. Also the simple truth is that, as a huge generalisation, good training creates good graduates so it’s an important piece of information for us to be reminded of.You can add your pronouns to your profile. To do so go to ‘edit basic details’ at the top of your profile, scroll down and you will see a box saying ‘further information’ next to ‘How would you like to be found on Spotlight?’ , this is a free text box where you can display your pronouns. While a good flashlight has its place in your tool collection, if you need maximum power and range, you’ll need a spotlight. These powerful lights have ergonomic grips that are easy to hold for a long time, often with multiple handles for using them in different ways. Their wide lenses and bright lumen outputs make them an asset for emergencies, and they usually illuminate a wider area more clearly than flashlights can. Some spotlights even include a stand that lets you place them on the ground and angle them at your workspace so you can keep your hands free.

When looking to buy downlights or spotlights, it's essential to consider factors like the type of lighting effect you want to achieve, the room's size and purpose, and energy efficiency. LED spotlights are a popular choice due to their long lifespan, energy-saving properties, and versatility of colour temperature and beam angles. An LED spot light bar does not emit any heat, can operate on low voltages, and can handle being switched on and off without shortening their lifespan. Casting directors can’t always watch a whole showreel so make sure to open strong. Re-editing your showreel can make it feel completely new and a simple edit can change everything. Make sure your strongest scene is at the beginning of the showreel. Don’t start with montages or still photographs, casting directors want to see you act. Self-tapes If you can, try to be off-book for a casting unless you’re told otherwise. If you fluff a line just carry on – the director or casting director will call cut if they need to. It’s easy for you to add photos to your Spotlight profile. The photo management system can be used on all devices and allows you to upload on the go. Though we do recommend editing your profile on your laptop instead of your phone for ease. Include relevant drama school credits if you’re newly graduated. Even though the role might not be your ideal casting, it may remind us of something about you. You can remove these credits as your CV builds…or when you’re 45!Only include these if they’re good. Of course they’re incredibly useful but you singing a cappella in your bedroom is of no value to anyone. I can only speak for myself when I say that, as someone who only works in theatre, I don’t ever look at/listen to reels as I want to see/hear you live in the room. Spotlight Theatre is a great opportunity for people to make friends, find a passion and experience the varied world of performing arts. There’s plenty of different styles of floor lamps to choose from. For example, the upright, tripod and arc floor lamps are available in a variety of materials, including copper-coloured metallics and woods. Wooden floor lamps are ideal for bringing some subtle texture into your home. If you prefer modern floor lamps that give a clean and tidy look, choose materials like metallics and tinted or shaded glass. Ensure that you have a language and accent marked as native on your profile. This is so you’ll appear in all of the appropriate searches. Be honest about your casting type Include the year. If you don’t it makes us suspicious that you’re trying to hide a long period of unemployment.

Casting directors tell us they only like to see 4-5 images of various expressions so less is definitely more. Photos/Headshots And finally, remember, we’re all in this industry to see and help each other succeed. Auditions can be stressful and are often last-minute but never forget casting directors really only ever want to find the right person for the job so don’t fear them. We all love sharing photos on social media, but sometimes a photo is better suited for your Facebook profile than your Spotlight one. Always keep in mind that your Spotlight profile is like your CV, so think about what a photo is saying about you professionally before adding it. Showreels Don’t be afraid to promote yourself on social media. Fellow performers, casting directors and agents like to hear what you have been up to.Casting directors often search by appearance. List as many as you could believably be cast as. Please note the word ‘believably’! If you’re using your spotlight around moisture or liquid like rain, use a model with an official waterproof IP rating. This rating denotes how effectively your spotlight is protected from damage due to dust (the first digit of an IP rating, measured on a scale from 1 to 6) or water (the second digit, measured from 1 to 8). For instance, an IP68 spotlight is totally dust- and waterproof. Having said that, please tell the truth. Being a highly skilled soprano, mezzo, alto, and bass all at once is highly unlikely, right? Light up your world! Illuminate your home with cosy and practical lighting from our standing floor lamps and standard lamps. Create a zen mood in your living room with a soft light in the corner. Or make reading a delight with some task lighting behind your favourite armchair or sofa.
