About this deal

When AGM batteries have demonstrated they don't deliver, it's time to think more about EFB which are 100% Motorhome and Caravan compatible. How do you connect a solar panel to a leisure battery?

If you do ever deep discharge the battery down past 50%, I would suggest you think about using some other charger to take the initial 10 minute load of charging, like the Alternator, etc. I'm still mindful of the compressor fridge and its huge power drain while off-grid so I've written the following notes to help my slow processing brain: A battery discharged to just 25% DOD will have more than twice the cycle life compared to a single battery discharged to 50% DOD, so a pair of Varta/Bosch Powerframes used in this way will deliver nearly 500 cycles, out performing the AGM's 350 cycles by a huge margin.will need to be carefully wired through the tow bar into the car.

When not driving, a leisure battery will be used as the only source of power in both a caravan and I think every battery expert in the country would say that battery damage had already occurred at 11v, never mind 9.0v!!! I n short, we don't recommend the use of AGM batteries for habitation use unless the vehicle has a Stop/Start engine and is fitted with an AGM starter battery and an AGM compliant mains charger. The Sargent manuals state the chargers are "compatible with AGM batteries" which clearly isn't the way the battery manufacturers see it. Every topline AGM Leisure battery battery manufacturer insists on a minimum 14.7v and Victron Energy suggest 14.9v gets longer life and a fuller charged battery. There are many types of charger available; their working principles and the procedure for using these is given below. Smart Chargers

The BCA 13.8v (often actually less than 13.8v in real use) is still on sale now and often used as a replacement for other manufacturers failed factory original. Yet it has a weak 10amp/13.8v specification not suited to an 80Ah caravan battery, let alone a free camping Motorhome's 160Ah AGM battery bank. Whether you camp with full electric hook-up or use no mains supply, YBX Active batteries give you the freedom to go anywhere. When a Motorhome can be sat on a Dealers forecourt for many months, that is a big annual cost in replacement wet batteries and subsequent damage to the charging systems. Wet Acid technology is so super durable, the voltage they charge at doesn't need to be stated, they are so tolerant of anything from 13.5v to 14.4v.Sorry, can't help you with specific resting, 50% DoD, equalizing or absorbtion voltages in your case as I've never looked at Yuasa technical manuals. I would guess equalization with a maintenance free, sealed battery is not the best idea. span>

Always take care and follow the correct health and safety guidelines to protect yourself from serious injuries from fire, explosions or leaking acid. get all the way to your destination to discover it’s giving you no power!

Leisure batteries should be tested for both voltage and state of health regularly. On many vehicles,This is the amount of power the battery can supply when fully charged. You can calculate your requirements by working out the consumption of the accessories the battery will power, and how long you usually use them for. Hence Yuasa launching their latest Leisure battery, the new Yuasa L36-EFB with best in class performance at 'Budget' money.

Remember this is only a limited solution and the AGM may still have a short life, but the 2 part VSR has the option for a switch to disconnect the alternator so it doesn't over charge at 14.4v when it wants no more than a 13.6v float rate. damage may occur, damaging the battery to a point where it can't be recovered by recharging.

However, by using an intelligent smart charger specific to the battery type and technology, you can The discount isn't meant to be a 'real discount', it is just so that they can gauge the amount of support they are receiving from 'The AandNCaravan Battery campaign' to help decide if their new ethical policy is what buyers want. Tayna have a high turnover of Varta LFD90's, every one we have bought has been been above 12.7v, usually nearer 12.8v. But seemingly not so good at less mainstream, possibly because they spend so much time pushing their awful Enduroline range so much? The Sargent manuals speak of a feature that shuts down the system when it drops below 9.0v- "... to protect the battery from severe damage".
