About this deal

We believe that animal testing is unacceptable. We recognise that customer safety is of importance but that this can be assured without the use of animals. Men, however, have been well-catered to in the masculine section by Mr. Ford. One of his very best, akin to a modern-age Habit Rouge is the above shown Tom Ford Noir eau de parfum for men. Tom Ford Noir was conceived as a masculine counterpart to Ford's previous and since discontinued Violet Blonde in 2012. Ombré Leather (2018) was launched in 2018. The nose behind this fragrance is Sonia Constant. The top note is cardamom; middle notes are jasmine sambac and leather; base notes are patchouli, amber, and moss.

Oud Fleur does not want to be understood, I am convinced of that. Not every question needs an answer. Not every decision needs to be made. Not everything needs to be committed to. You should, however, listen to the die-hard Oud Wood and Amber Absolute fan when she tells you that Tobacco Oud won’t satisfy your oud itch, and that it won’t measure up to Oud Wood or Amber Absolute for anyone who is truly passionate about either fragrance. I couldn’t agree more. Tobacco Oud isn’t a bad perfume, but, as this discussion should make clear, it’s incredibly generic and wholly unoriginal. Even if individual chords over and over again remind of the spicy, striking Booziness paired with pipe tobacco and exotic oud, and other chords quite evoke associations with the most seductive rose that the house of Ford has to offer, Oud Fleur does something quite brilliant in the later course: Tobacco Oud continues to devolve, reflecting neither of its namesake elements in any noticeable way. Near the end of the 4th hour, it loses the remainder of its incense, turning into a scent that is primarily gauzy, wispy labdanum with a hint of nebulous woody dryness that can just vaguely, barely, be made out as “oud.” Even that goes by the end of the 6th hour. From that pointon, until Tobacco Oud’s final moments, the perfume is a mere smear of soft amber. All in all, it lasted 9.5 hours on my skin with generally low sillage after the third hour.Tobacco Vanille, as its name suggests, is a true oriental: suave, smoldering, and quite smooth. Its salient characteristic is the unguous fall of a rich tobacco bouquet into the creamy, cocoa butter-like vanilla with unexpected accents of dried fruits. The sweetness is not accountable to the vanilla though, but to the honey note that good pipe tobacco often displays. Indeed, for a while, one loses the tobacco pouch for the honeyed-drenched cream pudding being served. The Middle East’s Damascus Rose heritage is evoked with a blend of Rose Bulgaria ORPUR, Rose Absolute Morocco and Rose Absolute Turkey ORPUR, said to combine fresh petal, nectar and stem-like scent signatures. At the heart of Oud Fleur lies the legendary oud wood, renowned for its captivating and mysterious nature. The deep, woody aroma of oud is enhanced by a delicate bouquet of roses, jasmine, and magnolia, infusing the fragrance with a sensual and floral warmth. To give you an idea of the debate and divergence in opinion, here are some snippets from Fragrantica: I like its darker and spicier aspects. I find it intriguing and the somewhat damp woodiness and rose note, was much better than I would normally find it to be. The resin and spice is a nice touch in Oud Fleur to create a more distinct aroma versus all of the others on the market.

She too has noted how Tom Ford fragrances differ substantially in smell depending on the quantity applied, and I think her observations are useful, along with the ever-helpful comparisons to her beloved Amber Absolute: Do you know those, possibly late puberty, young people who lose themselves in the poetry of philosophy - and who are very mysterious in their way, not really annoying but not quite fitting in this world. Also here: This fragrance carries exactly this mysterious component of a mysterious but - for me - young, masculine person. No macho. It is the fragrance of the mysterious and rather reserved thinkerThat said, my dear friend has what I affectionately call “unicorn skin,” because she gets longevity from all fragrances to a degree that is simply unique. I’ve never seen numbers (from anyone!) like what she regularly gets from a single, tiny, split spray of perfume. (Any perfume, any brand — doesn’t make a difference.) She’s in a whole other territory, beyond even “glue skin,” and verging on something completely epic. It fills me with the deepest envy, but it also requires me to caution you that you should not take her longevity numbers as the typical norm.
