About this deal

This is where I diverged from Duncan’s tips. Why? Because I wanted to do my own thing and this stuff is like magic. It’s a “Dry” paint so it looks very funky. That’s because it’s intended to be used with dry brushing. You’re going to want to hit the entire model with this step. This is also the step you’re going to really be able to tell if you clean the models well or not. Dry brushing will showcase all your mould lines and if you did a crappy job, you’re about to find out… Rhinox Hide: As a rich brown paint, Rhinox Hide can be used to create depth and shadows when paired with Hexwraith Flame. This is an analogous color pairing, where the two colors are adjacent on the color wheel. Rhinox Hide can be used to darken the Hexwraith Flame, create shading, and balance out the bright, ghostly green. When the Drazhar model was first announced, I took one look at it and knew I had to have it. The character was always cool but the old model was, shall we say, showing its age. The new plastic was a huge improvement, and although I was a little down on his rules at first sight I’ve come around on them since. Apply a thin layer of glaze over the area you want to cover. Unlike a wash, you don’t want it to pool up in areas. You want a nice, thin coat.

Geek & Sundry Painters Guildis hosted by Will Friedle as he explores the wonderful world of the miniature hobby! From painting minis for board games, miniature wargames, and RPGs to scratch building showpieces and creating terrain, you can learn alongside him from master teachers every episode. No matter what models our enthusiasts collect, everyone needs paint and tools to prepare their models for gaming and display. Well folks, that’s all I’ve got for the Nighthaunt Hobby Tips and Painting. I hope you find this useful with your own Nighthaunts! The beauty in doing that with a glaze is that I don’t have to repaint everything. There’s no need to base coat again, add layers, and highlights. I simply apply a bright red glaze over everything. All three infantry units in this box are battleline choices, making this a very strong foundation for any army. To expand this into an army, you could consider Craventhrone Guard, crossbow toting ghouls who can target enemies they can’t even see with their ethereal bolts, and who will benefit from the Knight of Shrouds’ Spectral Overseer ability. Hexwraith Flame can be used with adjacent or analogous colors on the color wheel to get a striking color combination. The following three Citadel Color paints can be combined with Hexwraith Flame: So after getting frustrated with this I finally decided to come here and ask for some advise. I've had a few units of spirit hosts and hexwraiths laying around not painted pretty much because the last time I tried painting them was when I just started like a year ago so ago so they turned out horribly. They've since been stripped and sat on a shelf and I've improved while working on 40k stuff. Paint the Metals– By doing this you’re giving the eye something else to look at. I recommend rusty weapons. Start with a brown, splotch paint a metal color on them, and hit it with a wash (nuln oil or a brown).

The easiest starting point for any Age of Sigmar army is the Vanguard box set. The Nighthaunt box set contains: Paint the Hexfires– Many of the models have extra “flame” bits. Clean those up with some white paint and then re-shade them with the new Hexwraith Flame. The great part of a glaze is that it’s a very translucent paint, meaning you can see the previous layer through it. So, you can make subtle changes to something.

Then cover the ghostly part with Hexwraith Flame. Why not over the primer? Because of this paint looks very bright on the light color and there’s a big contrast with a dark cloak. When you apply it over the Nighthaunt Gloom, the transition looks smoother. I’ll use it as it is for Spirits and magic. And Nihilakh Oxide will work for Banshees. If you have ever considered painting white on your model ever, get yourself some Apothecary White. It will make your life so easy. You know that part about reading instructions and taking your time. Well I might have cheated that step a little. Don’t make the same mistake I did. Unless you plan on adding another batch of Chainrasps…that’s what I keep telling myself anyhow.
