About this deal

Step 1 - Clean the Area: Make sure the area is clean, dry, and has no loose dirt or debris. For areas that are heavily soiled with bird droppings please see our "How to safely clean bird droppings guide" for more in-depth details. The Defender® Narrow Stainless Steel Bird Prevention Spikes are made from 304 Grade steel wires which protrude from a super tough Durolon UV Stabilised Polycarbonate base. This hard-wearing bird spike will triumph in all weather conditions and comes with a 25 Year "No Rust” Warranty when installed in the UK. Some lower-quality spikes available on the market can rust in a matter of years or even months - but these superior Defender® Narrow Stainless Steel Bird Spikes will protect your for years to come. Made in the UK Defender® Pipe Spikes have 9 grooves along the base which can be easily snapped by hand to make a shorter length strip. The cable ties can then be simply relocated to the ends of the shorter piece, this ensures that any size pipe can be fully proofed against perching or roosting birds.

As an alternative to the standard 304 Grade Stainless Steel, we now have the option to offer the Defender® Wide Stainless Steel in Marine 316 Grade Stainless Steel. Due to the added Molybdenum, this steel is particularly corrosion resistant to sodium chloride which makes it able to withstand harsher environments such as exposed coastal areas. Step 5 - Full Protection: Repeat the process until the area is fully protected. Each strip of the Thistle® Spike is 333 mm long and can be snapped by hand into shorter lengths. Along the base are grooves where the spike can be snapped by hand. This is useful when installing on undulating, curved or uneven surfaces. Every effort should be made to protect the whole area, and no gaps should be left between additional rows. If a seagull has already been using the area it may be heavily soiled with seagull droppings. If this is the case please see our "How to safely clean bird droppings guide" guide for more in-depth cleaning advice.Jones and Son Pest Control Supplies Ltd is a family-run business from Devon in the UK. All our Defender® Plastic Pigeon Spike Products are manufactured from high-quality Durolon UV Stabilised Polycarbonate plastic in a small town on Dartmoor. This ensures that we can oversee every aspect of the production process, from designing, patenting, manufacturing and distribution therefore each individual pigeon spike Jones & Son sends out meets our exacting standards. Step 2 - Fixing Methods: The best way to install seagull spikes is to use the specifically designed Defender® Pigeon Spike Fixing Silicone. This adhesive is formulated to create an extra strong bond with the polycarbonate base of our seagull spikes. However, the gull spike strips can also be nailed or screwed into position through the premade fixing holes along the base. They can also be cable tied in position. The Defender® Narrow Plastic pigeon spike is designed for areas where pigeons or like-sized birds are perching during the day. These pigeon prevention spikes humanely stop pigeons from landing on these areas. Where can I use narrow pigeon spikes? Aerial clips can be attached to the base of the pigeon deterrent spike. They very simply snap onto the base. Whatever length of bird spike strip you need, 2 clips are generally all that is needed for each piece, one at either end. Ensure the clips are facing the same way, on the same side of the spike base and are in a straight line. These clips can then be used to attach spike strips to the various director elements or bars along the main length. Be extra careful not to overstretch the clips to fit over a particularly wide bar. This could eventually cause stress fractures to the clip. If the bars are particularly thin, you may need to add a little of the included silicone to the inside of the clip just to hold it in place and upright.

Along the base of of each strip of spikes there are snap-off points making it easy to fit the spikes in small areas to the exact size required. Bird spikes to stop birds sitting or perching on surfaces whilst being humane and effective. Pigeon spikes and seagull spikes in both UV stabilised polycarbonate plastic spikes or stainless steel spikes Pigeons love to perch on areas that are high up on buildings to view the surrounding areas. Pipes such as water waste pipes, overflow, electrical conduits and gas line pipes are great examples of where pigeons perch on the outside of domestic and business premises. Installing Defender® Pipe Spikes will instantly stop the pigeons from being able to land and cause any further damage or mess. The pins on the spike make it difficult for the birds to land, and if they do manage to gain access, they will find them uncomfortable without being injured. They will simply move on to an easier nesting or roosting location. All of our pigeon-proofing and bird control products are 100% humane. They are even recommended by PiCAS as the most humane type of pigeon-proofing available on the market. Why are we the experts on bird spikes? The simple answer is that we don’t supply or manufacture any other type of bird control, we uniquely deal only with bird spikes and we have first-hand knowledge of bird control methods and installation. The Defender® Wide Plastic Pigeon Spike is made from super-tough Durolon UV Stabilised Polycarbonate. This ensures the spikes suffer no degradation due to the adverse effects of extreme weather. They do not yellow or become brittle and can withstand low and high temperatures. This bird control product comes with a 15-Year Warranty when installed in the UK. All Defender® Bird and Pigeon Spikes are made in the UK. David and Kursty Jones are the owners of Jones and Son Pest Control Supplies Ltd. They are the proud inventors of the bird prevention spike, which they designed and produce. Customer care and providing a reliable, quality bird prevention product is their greatest priority. Due to the nature of bird control issues, the areas needing to be proofed will often be high up on your property and hard to access. If you intend to do the bird-proofing yourself, you must be confident using ladders and working at height. If you cannot do the work yourself, please get in touch with a roofer, pest control company or handyman to assist you. Step 4 - Positioning: The outside pin should slightly overlap the outer edge of the ledge so stopping pigeons and birds from being able to land or gain a foothold. Most fences and pergola beams are between 2.5 cm – 5 cm in width, so position the spike in the centre. The 8 mm narrow plastic base is flexible along the length and this means it can be fitted along a curved surface, such as an ornate fence or trellis if required. It may need additional screws or cable ties to hold it in position on the curve.
