About this deal

So naturally I remember when the Eight Immortals showed up and asked for volunteers: four souls willing to help fulfill the prophecies. But there was a price. They had to be willing to leave paradise, to be reborn to all the pain, hardship, and suffering of the living world. And do you know who the first volunteer was? Without a second's hesitation?'

The Ruin of Kings is a fascinating story about a compellingly conflicted young hero in an intriguingly complex world.”—L. E. Modesitt, Jr., author of the Recluse series Kihrin’s plight brings him to the attention of royalty, who claim him as the lost son of their immoral prince. But far from living the dream, Kihrin’s at the mercy of his new family’s ruthless ambitions. However, escaping his jewelled cage just makes matters worse. Kihrin is horrified to learn he’s at the centre of an ancient prophecy. And every side – from gods and demons to dragons and mages – want him as their pawn. Those old stories lied about many things too, especially the myth that the hero always wins. Everything epic fantasy should be: rich, cruel, gorgeous, brilliant, enthralling and deeply, deeply satisfying. I loved it.”—Lev Grossman, author of The Magicians

About This Game

Only one surprised me, but there is good reason for that. In the end, we discover that we never really knew this person. Almost everything we thought we knew was a facade.

This angers Darzin greatly, but causes Lady Miya to laugh and Therin and the rest to join her, stating that it proved Kihrin was a D'Mon. Now even more angry Darzin sends Kihrin off to his room. As Kihrin storms away, Darzin follows him and punches him several times in the hall. Kihrin grabs a vase to fend off a third punch which Darzin breaks, and Darzin accuses him of baiting him, pulling out a knife. Darzin and Kihrin wrestle before Kihrin manages to slip away and into a side room where, to Darzin's eyes, he seems to have climbed down a window (but has really hiding invisibly). Therin enters and states Darzin can not abuse Kihrin or else, which causes Darzin to threaten Therin and confront him about Pedron. Therin states he has nothing to hide, as he does not care, but that he is not going to hide Darzin again like he did in the Affair of the Voices. Darzin states he should have killed "'that slut myself when I realized she was pregnant.'" causing Therin to slap him and send him away. [30] After he's gone and Therin pours a drink, he calls Kihrin out from hiding, revealing how he knew he was there. The process represents a complex puzzle that involves creating a screenplay, hiring actors, sourcing funding, and shooting a pilot. All the pieces of the puzzle need to fit seamlessly before full production commences. In some cases, production companies fail to secure buy-ins from TV networks after shooting a pilot. About Annapurna Pictures Tyentso chanted something long and unpronounceable, but I felt my mind shift as she cast her spell, felt what she did. It was more effective magic lesson in under two seconds than I'd ever had before in my life." [72]

Teraeth then questions Kihrin about his time on The Misery, and particularly the cruelty of Captain Juval and Delon, offering to kill them for Kihrin. Kihrin warns him that the ship's witch, Tyentso would likely not appreciate that. Teraeth then asks Kihrin to show him around the ship, revealing he doubts they are out of danger from Relos Var. Later, Kihrin is distracted by a large group of whales behind the ship, but after the pair sees blood they realize the whales are being hunted.

He knew her, knew her even if her appearance had changed with her rebirth, even if she no longer looked like the women who had once saved him from a fate much worse than death. I’d never been to Kishna-Farriga before, but I didn’t have to be a native to know only a fool came to this auction house without bodyguards. Galen tries to comfort Kihrin that it isn't all bad, and when Kihrin states Darzin as being Galen's father, Galen asserts he can prove Darzin is Kihrin's father. Galen takes Kihrin down a small servant passage to a secret room. The room has a small door but contains a lifesize gold plated statue of Thaena. Kihrin admires this first, wondering how it was gotten into the room as it couldn't have come the way they did. Galen calls him away to a portrait of Pedron D'Mon who looks nearly exactly like Kihrin with golden hair and blue eyes. It causes Kihrin to be saddened though. Galen then talks through the D'Mon lineage, that Pedron was the son of a vane slave, along with Tishar and that Therin's father was Pedron's half brother (by another mother). Kihrin then finds a small carving under Pedron's name (SPOILER: It is a prophecy Pedron believed he fulfilled), part of which states the sons will not know their fathers, which Kihrin interprets to mean Therin wasn't Pedron's nephew, but his son. (SPOILER: Though it is debatable if this prophecy references Pedron or someone else, this is the correct family tree.) He continues to connect this by pointing out his hair and eyes had to have come from Pedron's mother, a vane. Over the years, many Annapurna film productions have received awards and nominations. In 2013, “The Grandmaster” and “American Hustle” earned multiple Academy Award nominations recognizing Annapurna’s film production expertise. What Is “The Ruin of Kings” Book About?Without spoiling anything, let me just say that there are some startling revelations waiting in this book and the ending is so phenomenal, I just can't imagine how she is going to top it in the next book. As a bard’s apprentice, Kihrin grew up with tales of legendary deeds. He also steals, desperate to buy a way out of Quur’s slums. But when he raids the wrong house, he’s marked by a demon and life will never be the same again. you're sweet, and you're beautiful, and you stood up to those men...why do my motives have to be any more sinister than that?' Thief, minstrel, and lost son of a powerful lord of Quur, Kihrin finds that his family history (his real family history) is much more complicated than he ever imagined. Unless he wrests the answers from those who love (or hate) him most, he may not last long on this side of the veil—then again life and death aren’t quite what he expected either. His survival is not only a matter of utmost importance to him, but to all of the people who are wrangling to save him, use him, or survive him—including a cagey demon, a father with questionable parenting skills, and a shapeshifter who would love to eat his brains. And then there are the prophecies that seem to be dogging his every move. The first step to hooking you up with some appropriate and politically well-connected young lady is establishing whether you do, in fact, prefer young ladies.' She paused. 'Tishar and I were starting to wonder.'

What do you mean by “beginning” anyway? Whose beginning? Mine? I don’t remember it that well. Yours? Talon, you’re thousands of years old and have stored the memories of as many people. You’re the one who wanted to hear this. And you will, but under my terms, not yours. He is almost caught by Dead Man (Gadrith D'Lorus) but remains hidden by repeating in his head " I am not here. No Flesh, no sound, no presence." [5] Reassured they are alone the men resolve that the vane is a dead end and debate using their "'contingency'". [5] A shadow in the dark speaks directly into Kihrin's head and then Dead Man (Gadrith D'Lorus) absorbs the soul of the vane and magically destroys the dead body which is eaten by the demon shadow ( Xaltorath). Kihrin curses, and the men send the demon after the sound. Rook pulled up one side of his mouth in something like a smile. 'I was hoping to find a friendly face down here. Instead I get you.' Kihrin D’Mon: As the main protagonist, Kihrin travels extensively across the Tyga continent, where he experiences many trials and tribulations. The young thief and musician discovers that he’s a long-lost child of the royal house after observing a dark ritual performed by a prince at a mansion. His physical features resemble the Quuros tribe, whose emperor he later kills. Kihrin is the main character in the second book of the “Chorus of Dragons” series, called “The Name of All Things.” Throughout the story, Kihrin exhibits an aggressive and dark broody streak inherited from his D’Mon lineage. The point is that wizards always wear talismans. They stamp such trinkets with their own auras to guard against the hostile sorceries of other mages. Talismans can take any shape. A smart wizard conceals their talismans from casual observation by disguising them as jewelry, sewing them into the lining of their clothes, or wearing them under robes. You might never know if someone is a wizard … First, the narrators. Soneela and Vikas are both amazing voice actors with phenomenal range and great tempo and inflections. The one weak link is Feodor. But that his narration is bad, it just isn't as good. He has far less vocal range and when it switched to just him at the end it was a little jarring. The Ruin of Kings is a terrific debut novel by author Jenn Lyons. It’s playtime is 27 hours and 15 minutes, and when you are done listening you are going to be wanting more. I promise.
