About this deal

For a closer look at the Space Marine and Tyranid miniatures from the Leviathan set, and more details of the rest of the awesome contents, head to the Warhammer Fest hub . There’s also a whole host of other reveals as the weekend continues! Each story can be bought separately as they release, but to get all five for the price of four, opt for the full-week subscription. Word Bearers Boxed Set Collection On top of this, you’ll also find a construction booklet to help you build your miniatures and a decal sheet for the Space Marine force. Read more about the books and cards in the box here: To keep things balanced, the weapons options for the units have been fixed for all the Combat Patrol datasheets, so there’s no need to fret about your character and unit equipment prior to a game. You don’t need to worry about which guns to give your Chaos Space Marine Havocs, for example.

You might also have an idea by now of how you want to play your Tyranids, but no matter which kind of swarm appeals to you, there’s a vast array of reinforcements to choose from. To celebrate this groundbreaking trilogy, all three books – Dark Apostle , Dark Disciple , and Dark Creed – are now collected in one beautifully presented special edition boxed set. Bound in maroon cloth covers with foil details, they are held in a classically decorated sleeve – but with only 1,000 signed and numbered copies available, you’ll need to secure yours fast. The Rose in DarknessHuge shifting swarms of Termagants are the mainstay of many Tyranid invasion forces. Armed with ranged bio-organic weapons, these scuttling beasts rush forward to erode their enemy’s defences through sheer weight of numbers. Neurogaunts However he makes a great painting opportunity and a good model to practice on before you do the Swarmlord. Tervigon However you begin your Tyranid swarm, you’ll have a flexible and powerful fighting force at your fingertips, and breathtakingly cool units to paint wherever you choose to expand. Now get out there, and sink your teeth into a delectable galaxy just waiting to be devoured.

While you can deploy both armies in full to play a brutal but balanced game of Warhammer 40,000, the box also contains more than enough models to form two full Combat Patrols that will let you play this new, faster-paced game format right out of the box. What Else is in the Box? This set will get you bang up to date with the current storyline in Warhammer 40,000, but if you want to explore the horrors of the Fourth Tyrannic War, there’s the Leviathan tie-in novel by Darius Hinks, in which the Ultramarines mount a desperate defence in the face of the monstrous Hive Fleet Leviathan. Combat Patrol is a game mode perfect for beginners and veterans alike, where bite-sized forces clash in fast and finely balanced games.Should your prey prove to be more slippery than expected, assemble the kit as a Norn Assimilator and drag their cowardly hides into the dirt with razor-sharp toxinjector harpoons. This variant trades psychic powers for all-out damage. Deathleaper Known as the Vardenghast Swarm, this excellent army is a great way to start off a Tyranid collection, and lets you have a taste of the myriad ways the Hive Mind wages war. Units like the Termagants and Barbgaunts are fierce ranged combatants with powerful guns, while the Terror of Vardenghast and Von Ryan’s Leapers rip their prey to pieces in close combat. The Space Marines are the Emperor’s Angels of Death, vengeful warriors who have sworn an oath to protect the beleaguered Imperium from all assailants. As the jaws of Hive Fleet Leviathan close on the Galactic West, they’ve got their work cut out for them, and are deploying new units to combat the Tyranid threat. Captain in Terminator Armour There are more Faction Focuses coming soon to Warhammer Community, alongside more information about the game modes that will define the new edition of Warhammer 40,000. All Monsters in the Crusher Stampede Detachment get +1 to hitonce their unit is below Starting Strength: if they start as a unit with one model, that means as soon as they’ve taken a wound. Once below half strength (ie, they’ve lost half their wounds), they get +1 to wound as well.

Nooks and crannies in alien fleshwork great with Contrast paints. Similarly, their bone carapaces work well with dry brushing techniques, helping you make the model’s edges pop while maintaining their unique organic feel. This is a fast and fluid force. The ‘Neuronode’ enhancementallows three Vanguard Invader units to redeploy after your opponent finishes their deployment, while the ‘Seeded Broods’ Stratagem will let you deploytwo Vanguard Invader units from reserve on turn one. Tyranid Vanguard organisms are the first to make planetfall, sometimes preceding the hive fleet’s assault by months. They include infiltrator organisms like Lictors and Neurolictors, winged beasts like Gargoyles and Winged Hive Tyrants, and the rapid Genestealers.

Collecting Your Army

Depicted at their most optimistic moment, the Fellowship of the Ring are assembled once again in this set of nine models. Field them as a single force and you can take on an entire army, using each member’s unique skills to fight off hordes of Evil-doers. Wielding a combi-weapon and two combat blades, this Phobos-armoured Lieutenant can infiltrate ahead of the main Space Marine force, sowing discord among his enemies and disrupting their battle lines. Sternguard Veteran Squad The quintessential Tyranid force is an Endless Swarm of warrior beasts hurling themselves into the guns of their foe, utterly heedless of their own mortality. Thisforce is a rapid-moving tide of Hormagaunts, Termagants and Neurogaunts, accompanied by swarms of chittering Gargoyles. The miniatures are divided into 25 elite, battle-hardened Space Marines* – the Imperium’s ultimate defenders against innumerable horrors – and a seething swarm of 47 ravenous Tyranids that desire nothing more than to consume all the biomass in the galaxy. Let’s take a closer look at each army. A Tyranid Synaptic Nexus is afocal point for the hive mind, led by powerfully psychic Neurotyrants, Zoanthropes, Hive Tyrants, and Malanthropes.

Kraken was the second Hive Fleet that humanity encountered, ultimately being responsible for the Second Tyrannic War. Kraken Tyranids are known for their speed, moving faster than believed possible to strike behind enemy lines. This list shows off a lot of the units that are particularly effective, including Hive Guard, the Malanthrope, hordes of Ripper Swarms to occupy objectives, and a Scythed Hierodule because they’re just awesome. It also shows off how expensive Tyranids can get when you start going down the path of resin. Fortunately the holidays are here! Wrap-up The Tyranids did not arrive all at once but split their forces into several different Tyranid Hive Fleets. Each of these humongous, biomechanical armadas were given names by humanity, and many have been encountered or destroyed.Stratagems like Untramelled Ferocity, which allows a monster to simply move through enemy models, or Swarm-Guided Salvoes, which grants the Indirect Fire weapon ability, mean there’s no escape from your alpha warbeast’s beligerence. It isn’t all aggression, though – the alien and unknowable Hive Mind** can bring its immense psychic powers to bear through Zoanthropes , activating the Warp Shielding ability to protect its most essential combat bioforms. The Biovore has a new spring in its step and is ready to launch Spore Mines all over your next battlefield. These indirect fire platforms have long been the Hive Mind’s answer to distant foes, and you can also build them as flame-spewing Pyrovores to turn long-range shooting into close-quarters dominance. Combat Patrol: Tyranids Welcome to the Tyranids! This is part of the issue with list building for them. They have a lot of really fun and thematic options that you might not get to run all of them in a single list. If you’re a new player this can honestly be overwhelming. But, again, the Combat Patrol is something you can build from as you add models to your collection. And you’re always going to have too many ‘gaunts. That’s just how it works. There are so many ways you can diverge from this Combat Patrol…but we have to stop somewhere. Each round the Tyranid player can select a Synaptic Imperative bonus that will apply to all their units in Synapse range. The hive mind channels its concentrated will, making the xenos harder to kill, faster, oreven more voracious. Though the buffs are different, this is an even more flexible detachment than the Invasion Fleet, but relies more on Synapse organisms.
