The Witcher 3’s “Ladies of the Wood” is not a complicated quest on its own, but it ties into a couple other quests, and your choices have lasting impacts. A lot of mystery surrounds the spirit but one thing appears to be certain: she wasn't human and the Crones killed her (or rather, destroyed her body) then captured her spirit and imprisoned it in the tree. The full truth of why though is never revealed. There's witches, there's curses, there are sacrifices that need to be made to keep the town in balance. When she hears about the murdered girls, Lauren doesn't hold much hope for the police finding the culprit. They never solved her Dad's murder.

I could not put this book down and read late into the dark night. I loved the characters, even the crazy ones, as they lend so much interest to this story. I give this 5 stars and highly recommend it to fans of Stephen King. Such a good, scary story for those who love this genre! Set in a small idyllic Midwestern town, The Ghost Tree reveals the darkness that lies underneath the town’s peaceful, prosperous surface. In the 2000s, Ghost Trees enjoyed international big wave notoriety as surf professionals and locals accessed the wave by towing into it behind jet skis. During this era of tow-surfing, Carmel surfer Don Curry named the wave Ghost Trees after the bleached trunks of dead cypress at the end of 17-Mile Drive, which passed Pescadero Point. [ citation needed] Betty Church has lost a friend. And friends shouldn't stay lost if they don't have to. And if your lifelong dream is to become a detective, well, of course you go looking, even after you find a body, don't you? That's what The Ghost Tree is all about, and a wonderful story it is, too.If you choose to save the spirit, later the villagers of the town will remark about the forest spirit.

Even though there is a lot going on in this story—Lauren’s troubled family history, the strained friendship between Miranda and Lauren, the murders, a small town secret and even a vengeful witch’s ancient curse—Henry is able to keep all the strands of her spiderweb woven together in a neat and concise way without losing the reader along the way. The ghost tree was about a ten- minute walk from the place where Lauren dismounted her bike. Miranda was already there, arms crossed and leaning against the tree with her eyes closed. Lauren wondered what Miranda was thinking about. The fruit is a very hard nut about 3cm long surrounded by a green husk about 4cm long by 3cm wide, hanging on a 10cm stalk. The nut contains 3–6 seeds. More recently, a legendary surfer drowned near the Ghost Tree while attempting to paddle into the massive waves. The infamous wave and the entire surfing area has now become known as Ghost Tree. When locals catch a good wave there, they often remark, “The Ghost Tree is with us today.”The witches are revealed eventually, but the monster is not until the very end of the story. Only then can you put this together with the folklore involved. When the bodies of two girls are found torn apart in the town of Smiths Hollow, Lauren is surprised, but she also expects that the police won't find the killer. After all, the year before her father's body was found with his heart missing, and since then everyone has moved on. Even her best friend, Miranda, has become more interested in boys than in spending time at the old ghost tree, the way they used to when they were kids.

Lauren is also dealing with her father’s death during the previous year, and her ongoing battles with her critical mother. Fortunately, her 4-year-old brother David is the bright spot in her life. Spinsters are witches, and old women are witches, and single women are witches because they simple must be. Women without men must be up to no good.’ – Christina Henry. So I regrouped by buying the audiobook, because Emma Gregory’s superb narration really brings Betty’s world to life for me. When people go missing in the sleepy town of Smith's Hollow, the only clue to their fate comes when a teenager starts having terrifying visions, in a chilling horror novel from national bestselling author Christina Henry.Though this is told through many different eyes, Lauren is the main focus and who we find to be the most reliable narrator. Though only fourteen, she is a fairly mature and levelheaded young girl who seems to really know who she is (I give credit to the era she grows up in). Our story starts with Lauren meeting her best friend Miranda by the Ghost Tree in the woods, a place that scares most residents of Smiths Hollow, but also a place the girls have gone to since they were small. Lauren feels comfort and peace when she is in the woods, which is surprising given all that’s…happened… She enjoys running long distances, reading anything she can get her hands on and watching movies with samurai, zombies and/or subtitles in her spare time. She lives in Chicago with her husband and son. Summer is flying by, and there are just five short weeks until THE GHOST TREE is released. This book is an homage to all the coming-of-age horror novels I read when I was younger – except all those books featured boys as the protagonists when I longed for more stories about girls.
