King Julien and team discover a trapped Crimson and must team up to defeat a beast; Mort tries to rally his fellow lemurs but they are losing hope. Despite his desire for everyone to listen and do what he wants, he hates and ignores Mort, his most loyal follower, who treats him like a god! Most likely because Mort adores Julien's feet. Mort responds to everything Julien tells him to do as "I like..." followed by whatever Julien said. King Julien is given a personal bodyguard named Clover, and even though he thinks she can be a bit paranoid in the beginning. However, she slowly becomes less paranoid as the series progress, and King Julien trusts her. Mort (perhaps the most loyal after the scene in King Me) and Maurice are very loyal. Even though Maurice is a extremely loyal to King Julien in All Hail King Julien, who is to be one of his best friend, these are some examples where Maurice's character change:
King Julien: (Julien takes Maurice's banana and eats it) Nicely done, Maurice. Now peel me a grape. King Julien: I do, but I love savagely rejecting Mort. It makes me feel kingly. But how am I to feel kingly now? In Night Creatures, he continuously tries to convince that Mort is the night creature, probably make Clover to destroy him. King Julien and Maurice infiltrate a Foosa gladiator school ruled by Mary Ann. Jarsh-Jarsh switches Sage and Clover's bodies to make them face their fears. Mort looks for Hans who advises him he must form his own army. In the episode Right Hand Man, Clemson (the new lemur who becomes his right-hand man) intends to betray him and take over as king.Clover and Sage are getting married, but when Julien throws a bachelor party and accidentally loses the groom-to-be, he has Timo and Dr. S. build a Franken-groom to stand in at the wedding. Julien sees the Lemur School reunion as a way to relive his glory days, but his old flame Karen and his foe Karl have a dangerously different agenda. Clover, who is only featured in All Hail King Julien, is extremely loyal to her king, taking the king as a colleague and one of her best friend. This is most evident in All Hail King Julien: Exiled, as well as the following examples: Return of the Uncle King, Body Double, Election, O Captain My Captain Pt. 1, O Captain My Captain Pt. 2, and The Good Book etc. Fascinated by the idea of money upon Mort showing him the board game "Gimme Gimme Gimme," King Julien brings money to the kingdom. But Mort's surprising money skills create big problems when he brings the game into real life for everyone in the kingdom.
King Julien is crazy with jealousy and throws out the kingdom's art after he is upstaged by Mort who is now the town's hottest new artist. Because he is extremely conceited, selfish and rather dim-witted, Julien is a terrible king. It seems that he will only let people talk good about him. Julien could even be narcissistic in that way. But it has been referenced twice in the series that deep down, he mainly wants his friends to stay by his side. In The Otter Woman Julien flirts with 'Arlene', unaware that she is Marlene. He has no interest in Marlene after her fur is dyed brown again.
King Julien's first moment on screen. The moment when he raises his head to sing "I Like To Move It" in Madagascar 01. Madagascar [ ] King Julien asking Maurice to shut up since no one else have the heebie jeebies on Alex. This occurred in Madagascar where Maurice voices out that they must be careful since Alex could be worse than the foosa. As his parents prepare to leave, Julien tries to reclaim his childhood by forcing them to attend the dance recital they missed when he was a kid. In his eponymous series, King Julien is more intelligent than in previous Madagascar media. However, not by much, he only appears smarter in comparison to his kingdom's citizens, who are too dumb to be left without a king. However, he does shows some wit in the series and is more tactful, clever and witty than his character in the films or other series. King Julien XII was able to rally and unite much of the kingdom and neighboring kingdoms War of the Beasts.
Uncle King Julien makes a final attempt to take over the kingdom, but romance distracts him -- causing him to lose sight of his evil plan. It also is shown that Julien gains a super-lemur level of strength if he gets mad visible when in Miracle on Ice, Julien spanked and humiliated the Rat King, after one of his henchmen touched Julien's feet; in " Happy King Julien Day!", Maurice claims that when the entire island didn't celebrate, Julien violently caned everyone who forgot his self-proclaimed holiday. Despite being a good guy, his stupidity can make him obliviously act as an antagonist towards the Penguins in some episodes and usually gets his punishment at the end when that happens. Julien becomes jealous when Mort is repeatedly abducted by aliens. Julien plans to make the aliens abduct him instead. In All King, No Kingdom, after practically banishing Mort and Maurice from the lemur habitat, he soon realizes how lonely he is, and not long after starts talking to stuffed animals because he was not invited to the other two lemur's party, although almost everyone else was (It is unknown if the penguins were on the list or not).

Not much is known about his young life, however, it was said that long ago when he was King of Madagascar, he ruled the kingdom with fear and intimidation, forcing everyone to do hard labor, and nearly caused the extinction of the lemur species (and possibly other animals as well). He shut down the schools and revamped the school system, teaching the kingdom things he wants them to be taught, especially in subjects like history, where he altered and revised it to his advantage. When the Penguins and the Chimps leave for Monte Carlo, King Julien, Mort, and Maurice stay in Africa with Alex and the gang to wait for their return. In an interview with Tom McGrath, he stated that King Julien had several loyal citizens, most predominant of which was a Lemur named Troy. What are you afraid of? You're a dead man anyway. Come on." (to Melman after he said he never tell Gloria how he felt about her)
In All Hail King Julien series informations about King Julien's past appear, however most of them is contradictory. The purple feathered crown from Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa and Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted. King Julien is also shown to be highly durable, surviving hits and falls that should damage him greatly mainly in All Hail King Julien.While this is true, most commonly episodes follow the pattern: Julien has a desire to either benefit himself or to improve the lives of his people. Despite his entourage’s objections he proceeds with the plan. The plan works at first but then takes a disastrous turn. At first, Julien expects Maurice and Clover or another person to fix his mess. This doesn’t work and so Julien is forced to reconcile with his own guilt and attempts, sometimes pathetically, to rectify things. He then claims he learned a valuable lesson. Maurice sighs exhaustedly. He does actually learn a few lessons in Exiled and reveals his gratitude to his companions on a few occasions.
