Amrut is a brand of Indian single malt whisky, manufactured by Amrut Distilleries. It is the first single malt whisky to be made in India. [1] Amrut (अमृत) or amrit is a Sanskrit word which can be translated as "nectar of the gods", [2] [3] "nectar of life", [4] or "drink of the gods". [5] The company translates it as "Elixir of Life". [6] The brand became famous after whisky connoisseur Jim Murray gave it a rating of 82 out of 100 in 2005 and 2010. In 2010 Murray named Amrut Fusion single malt whisky as the third best in the world. [2] [7] [8] John Hansell, editor of American magazine Whisky Advocate, wrote that "India's Amrut distillery changed the way many think of Indian whisky – that it was, in the past, just cheap Scotch whisky blended with who knows what and sold as Indian whisky. Amrut is making whisky, and it's very good". [9] About Amrut Distilleries". Amrutdistilleries.com. Archived from the original on 8 July 2013 . Retrieved 21 June 2013.

Love for Amrut

Taste : The delivery, though controlled at first, is massive! Then more like con-fusion as that smoke on the nose turns into warming, full blown peat, but it far from gets its own way as a vague sherry trifle note (curious, seeing how there are no sherry butts involved) - the custard presumably is oaky vanilla - hammers home that barley - fruitiness to make for a bit of a free-for-all; but for extra food measure the flavours develop into a really intense chocolate fudge middle which absolute resonates through the palate; Flavor of Amrut fusion single malt whisky is rich and fruity with notes of tropical fruits, honey, spices, and oak. Finish of Amrut fusion single malt whisky No partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship is created as a result of your use of the Service. Nose: Orange segment and lemon peel steal the show. Almond or marzipan creeps up in the middle before cereal grain, like Cheerios, rounds out the finish. Now, Amrut whisky is sold in many countries around the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and more. People in these countries can enjoy the taste of this special Indian whisky. Brief Details of Amrut Fusion Single Malt Whisky Country of Origin

Final Thoughts: It’s light and delightful. It’s not overly complex, and it doesn’t burn light the Amrut Single Malt that isn’t peated. I think this could sipped year round, when other whiskies or single malts can be too warm for the sunnier months. Finish of Amrut fusion single malt whisky is Long and satisfying, often with lingering sweet and spicy notes. Amrut fusion single malt whisky Review

Nose: Orange segment and lemon peel are brighter in the cask strength than just the standard Amrut above. A bit of mint wafts throughout, and there is a distinct touch of jasmine. Fusion opens with a caramelised accord of crème brûlée and tinned apricot. Meanwhile, saffron dominates the initial flavours and draws the palate towards a peppery heart. Amrut Fusion Single Malt has a balance and grace that perfectly compliments the full sweet and peat flavor and complex aroma that dances along the same lines. It has a wonderful character all around and is the kind of unique and interesting whisky that makes whisky exploration so much fun. Finding hidden gems like this is exactly what it’s all about!

Blended whisky is made from malt whiskies of different distilleries. The amount of precision and time involved in making a single malt whisky directly impacts the quality of the whisky. So, it is the distillery that decides the fate of a whisky more than the malt itself. And so, single malt whisky is not made of a single grain or single barrel but at a single distillery. This Amrut is part of the Collector’s Series from the distillery. It provides the most warm afterglow, and I consider this one to be a good sipping night cap, or to enjoy with a rich meal.
