About this deal

If this 1,200×900 pixel crop is about 6" (15cm) wide on your screen, the complete image would print at a huge 27½×41¼″ (70×105 cm) at this same high magnification. This is a dangerously bright sun. This ghost probably wouldn't be visible if photographing an ordinary sunset. By default, there is no always-responsive instant manual-focus override as we take for granted in our DSLRs. Look at how sharp is the metal mesh, even in the corners, and this is shot wide-open at f/2.8 at 36 megapixels. You can't get sharper than this.

On an APS-C camera it sees angles of view similar to what a 114 ~ 324mm lens sees on a full-frame or 35mm camera. There's very little depth-of-field, but what is in focus is ultra sharp and you can see every detail in every piece of fuzz— and this is wide-open where lenses are softest. The best protective filter is the 77mm Hoya multicoated HD3 UV which uses hardened glass and repels dirt and fingerprints. This new "E" diaphragm will not work on the D1 or D2 series, D100, D200, D90, D80, D70 series, D60, D50, D40 series, or D3000, and will not work on any 35mm camera. Seeking the best printer for your business? Hit your productivity targets with inkjet and laser printers that are a perfect fit for any workspace – including home offices. It won't fit on, and cannot be adapted to, any DSLR because a DSLR has too much distance between its sensor and its lens mount flange. As a full-frame lens, this works on all Canon SLRs, regardless of format. As a professional lens, I will be reviewing this lens on full-frame. This lens has very little distortion, so Distortion correction is OFF by default. Feel free to turn it on for critical use.

This is an ultra-sharp and ultra-compact professional telephoto zoom for Canon's EOS-R mirrorless system. On my EOS R5, autofocus is faster than my own eyes! Bokeh, the feel or quality of out-of-focus areas as opposed to how far out of focus they are, is great. Row of Desert Palms at Dawn, 21 November 2016. Nikon D810, Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 FL at 200mm at f/2.8 at 1/2,000 at Auto ISO 100. bigger or full-resolution file to explore on your computer. This is as close as it gets with a 1.6x camera. It will be less close with a 1.3x or full-frame camera. More at Crop Factor. There is another 70-200mm f/4 L IS and 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS that do have IS. They cost more and I prefer them. If this 1,200×900 pixel crop is about 12" (30cm) wide on your screen, the complete image would print at a mammoth 55×82½″ (1.4×2.1 meters) at this same extremely high magnification! Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM (on Canon EOS R5) at 1/200 sec, f/2.8, ISO100 (Image credit: James Artaius / Digital Camera World) Verdict

With its 8-blade diaphragm, this Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L makes boring Canon-standard 8-pointed sunstars on brilliant points of light. This original non-IS 70-200 is a sleeper of a lens. It's the lens to get for anyone on a budget shooting sports and action, or shooting on a tripod. There is a quirk with the close focusing distance, however. While you would expect that the RF lens can achieve much greater magnification than its EF sibling, given that it can focus almost twice as close (at 0.7m compared to 1.2m), in practice it doesn't deliver much greater magnification. E: Electronic diaphragm. Diaphragm stops down only on cameras introduced since about 2007 (see the complete list). The foot has two ¼″ × 20 tripod threads so you can position it for great balance with either light or heavy cameras.

Tee Section

Even at its close focus distance of 4 feet (1.2m) I can't get any shadows from the built-in flash of my Rebel XTi. It should also have a USA warranty card floating around inside the box, possibly folded into the instruction sheet: Even at f/2.8, it's scalpel-sharp from edge to edge. Remember that only a thin plane, not everything, is in perfect focus at f/2.8. Macro is great; the 70~200 focuses super-close, the world's closest-focussing 70-200mm zoom at 200mm, and it's super-sharp even wide-open: Built-in flashes are often so close to the camera that some lenses can see far enough down to see their shadow cast by a built-in flash.
