About this deal

Not quite sure whether it's worth speaking to virgin about this, or going ahead and purchasing a 2 way online. Obviously there would still be the original 2 way splitter outside the house... Made an aesthetically pleasing small Oak box on the inside of the wall where the TV and broadband comes in to the building (forget the phone) and: There are two options for connecting the TV Box to the Hub. If your TV Box is close enough an Ethernet connection provides the best connection. If the TV Box is too far away to connect the Ethernet cable, you can connect via WiFi instead. The world will not explode and you'll get the exact same signals from Virgin Media if using quality cable other than the cable Virgon themselves carry. If wanting to use your own cabling as opposed to having Virgin install their's then you''d be advised to use a high quality coax such as Webro WF100. This isn't strictly speaking the exact same cable as used by Virgin or indeed the exact cable that would be used in association with a cable TV installation, but it is considerably better than the generic RG6 you'd get at your local B&Q and is more than capable of conveying the signal with the minimal of noise and with inherent superior insulation.

Attach both the input cable and the output cables into the splitter, which is straightforward to do using the cables’ threaded F connectors. Splitting or dividing a coaxial cable to provide signal to multiple devices is a straightforward task that mainly involves attaching your existing cable to a splitter device, and running separate coax cables from the splitter to receiving devices like your TV. As the system currently stands, there doesn't appear to be a free connection to attach to. The Virgin Media STB only has one output point which is already in use to connect the TV, STB and DVDR. The Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has today (Wednesday 22 November) announced a range of tax, benefits and savings measures. We round up the key announcements and what they mean for you.If you feel that signal loss either at the splitter or somewhere else along the line is so great that it’s affecting signal quality, consider replacing the splitter with a distribution amplifier with the appropriate number of output ports. How to Install a Cable Splitter Previous Sky customer - had Sky signal split into 3 seperate rooms in the house via a 3-way splitter. Over the years, left Sky and now a Virgin Media customer. I've actually got some of the actual F connectors Virgin use, but these are no longer available. Any quality F connector will suffice though. Virgin don't have them magically made expecially for them and they aren't rubbing them with the same snake oil you seem to think they use on their cables As I suggested, Virgin's own cable is more than likely of a lower quality than the cable I suggested. In terms of signal loss, this is in addition to the slight insertion loss the input signal has when it enters the splitter’s input port.

The more output ports a splitter has, the more cumulative signal loss that occurs. Admittedly this isn’t much loss generally, but the higher the number of ports you’re using, the more your signal can be affected. But what if you want to hook up your antenna to a second TV in another room? Then you can split the coaxial cable running from your antenna into two cables, one feeding each television. Given, in a ideal world you'd want the installer to measure the signal levels while using the cable you intend to operate the equipment with and adjust those levels accordingly, but given the cable lengths in question, the signal levels are not that likely to be outside the acceptable range even if using different cables. However, this seems like a great service, and it is. The cables are likely to be clipped to skirting boards, and even if the colour is close, they can still be unsightly. Does Virgin multiroom need cables? To use a splitter, you simply attach the end of each coaxial cable (which must terminate with an F connector) into each port of the splitter. As a passive device, this means the signal power coming in will necessarily exceed the signal power going out (OK, save this thought for later). NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and Ulster Bank, which are all part of the NatWest Group, will now shut at least 172 of their bank branches in 2023 and 2024. My guide on extending a coaxial cable has a section on how to do this. Step 3: Connect All the Appropriate Cables
