For me, it is an opportunity to taste some of the delicious Glen Grant releases and to catch up on what has been happening. The morning after the first Whisky Live evening, we always meet up to share a massive slice of chocolate cake and coffee. Was Campari just focused on their other brands? Did they emphasize other markets I knew less about? What factors do we not know of that resulted in a delay of their expanding markets? Regardless, it seems that their 18 year old’s place in Jim Murray’s top three whiskeys for consecutive years did wonders for their exposure. This resulted in the brand increasing in visibility… even in Manila, where the Scotch scene can be underwhelming. JM: The Glen Grant matures particularly well in Sherry casks. Maturation in Sherry butts was typical of The Glen Grant in the past. Over the last half-century, however, the distillery has generally opted to release ex-bourbon cask matured expressions. Most of the Sherry cask expressions have been released by independent bottlers. The Major was a legendary inventor, womanizer and traveller — he was the first person in the Scottish Highlands to own a car and his distillery was the first in Scotland to enjoy electricity. In addition, the Major designed and equipped Glen Grant distillery with the tall, slender stills and purifiers that allowed Glen Grant to produce whisky that was noticeably lighter and more delicate as compared to its Scottish brethren. Tasted these two beauties this morning, side by side. The 12yo Glen Grant and the 12yo non chill filtered. The non chill filtered one is AMAZING. Rich and bursting with fruit. #glengrantdistillery #scotland #scottish #liquidgold #scotch #whiskywoman #instawhisky #womanandwhisky #whiskypic #whiskygram #whiskyporn #womanwhodrink #whiskey #singlemaltwhisky #Whisky #whiskygirl #tastingnotes #singlemalt #glengrantwhisky #whiskyoftheweek #flashesofwhisky #instadram #whiskygram #whiskyfriends #glengrant

I think there’s no better way to foster an appreciation of single malt whiskies than by visiting the home of your favorite whisky in person. We are fortunate to have many visitors to the distillery. It’s important for us to continue to welcome visitors from all over the world to The Glen Grant. We have some exciting plans ahead for our distillery experience, which we hope to share more about soon. My first Divine rated whisky for 2019. What a beautiful full rounded and balanced release. It is amazing how big the difference in taste is between the chill and non chill filtered. Later in the year, I will do a side by side blind taste comparison and write about it. I am not sure if it will hold for other releases, but in this Glen Grant 12 yo whisky, the non chill filtering has a significant difference in taste. The oddest thing about this is the unavailability in more mature markets like the UK and US. At the time of writing this review, well-known online stores like The Whisky Exchange, Master of Malt, Total Wine and K&L Wines didn’t have this. Yet, local and AUS online stores have it. Maybe this hasn’t been launched in the EU and US yet? Is it just me, or has the popularity of awards made some brands forever connected to certain awards, and vice versa? In terms of special limited-release offerings, the release of our 60-year-old single malt Scotch whisky in 2021 was the oldest, to date, distillery bottling in its 181-year history – and the response was incredible. We continue to see Scotch whisky connoisseurs and even newcomers to the category delighted by the flavors that rise from more complex maturation and the most exclusive expressions of the spirit.

Whiskybase B.V. On the nose: Sharper and more acidic compared to the other three. A somewhat British image of tea with a slice of lemon and honey comes to mind. After it comes a creaminess like what I sometimes get with Cragganmore 12. A medium and lasting aroma of lemon square comes out, too. In between, there are very subtle aromas of melons, sapodilla, honey, butterscotch and orange peel oils. So far, the response to The Glen Grant’s full repertoire of luxury single malt offerings is truly wonderful. The future looks bright for our expanding product range and intriguing new whisky releases like The Glen Grant 21-Year-Old. In recent years, we’ve seen increased interest from whisky drinkers in premium single malt Scotch whiskies across a variety of flavor profiles and age statements. With this in mind, and with support from Campari, we have started to build a more varied portfolio of expressions – all of which capture the signature aromatic and evocative taste profile at the heart of our whiskies, which delivers delicately fruity, floral, and nutty notes in every drop. I was not expecting a big difference. Yes, the ABV is a bit higher, but it is the standard Glen Grant 12 yo whisky, just the non-chill-filtered version. How big can the difference be?
