Mouse’s Wood opens amid January’s snows and as we turn the pages we see the months unfold and follow Mouse’s seasonal activities: picnicking in May, collecting berries in September, and huddling around a camp fire in November. It is a celebration of our incredibly diverse world as it really is: home to 195 countries with thousands of different cultures, 10 million colours and 4,300 religions. Alice has also worked with Tate on an extensive range of children’s merchandise including many interactive ‘cut-out-and-make’ kits and children’s clothing.

By August, we’ve journeyed to Badger’s allotment, where ‘ armed with pots and spades and barrows‘ Mouse and Badger ‘ gather up/ the carrots and the marrows’. They would also only drop off a case of books and leave us to run it – it was so lovely to have you on hand to chat to the children and recommend them books, as well as the small (but appreciated! Along the way Mouse visits his woodland friends and the reader can open the flaps and peep inside their homes – from otter’s riverside cabin to squirrel’s tree house. Mouse moves on to wake up Hedgehog for the arrival of spring, and as he continues along the path in the wood, Mouse’s journey from friend to friend maps out the changes in seasons from January through to December.

Written by Uju Asika, author of Bringing up Race, this beautiful picture book celebrates the beauty and joy of living in a wonderfully diverse world. Eventually the healing process of drawing nature helped me rediscover my creativity, and create this book.

You guys are such a force for good and I am a passionate supporter of Indie booksellers, so I'm so happy this worked out well (I'd love to know how many books were sold if you have it to hand - it felt like quite a lot! I was at my last school for 4 years and we had ********* book fairs every term – and every term, I was disappointed by the narrow range of books.
