About this deal

Following Tigra's arrival, she protected Reese as Zodiac used a bomb to destroy the Midnight Mission in a bid to test Moon Knight's resolve. Maybe I'm just saying this because I got Oscar Isaac on the brain but Mr Knight was highkey hot in this. However, the Mission continues to face new threats, including a mysterious Moon Knight who is fueled entirely by an insatiable thirst for vengeance.

Khonshu is the god of midnight travellers, and if there's one thing Moon Knight is good at, it's protecting people from things that go bump in the night.I've been reading Moon Knight for a long time, ever since he first appeared, and this is right up there with the best iterations. Kind of bleak and also pretty hand-wavy when it comes to supernatural phenomena such as honest-to-God vampires running around midtown Manhattan, etc. And then we have this enemy who later reveals himself and plan to break Moonknight and I can't wait to see what they'll do with him. Not to expose myself but I rewatch the Moon Knight show almost every week (not kidding at all, I'm really down bad for him) and this is so different from that and yet they are both so good.

The most prominent figure within the Midnight Mission is its founder and leader: Moon Knight, the former Fist of Khonshu. The villainous mastermind Zodiac became determined to destroy the Midnight Mission after he developed a grudge against Moon Knight, as he felt the hero was wasting his natural potential. Or redeem then read your digital copy on the Marvel Unlimited app by using the code found in your print comic. Joining Moon Knight's cause, the House of Shadows became the new site of the Midnight Mission, occupying the same leasing space. One of Moon Knight's earliest rescues were a group of neighbors forcibly turned into vampires by a vampiric pyramid scheme cult. Apparently Moon Knight/Khonshu tried taking over the world, or something stupid, in a recent Jason Aaron Avengers arc (I gave up on that series after the dismal first volume so I’m guessing from details gleaned from this book) and now he’s running a religious mission in the city… for reasons? Daredevil has Hell's Kitchen, Luke Cage has Harlem, but Moon Knight doesn't define his community by traditional neighborhood lines. I wasn’t blown away by it like I was by Lemire’s or Ellis’ runs, but it does a great job at nailing Moon Knight’s characterization. while another Fist of Khonshu appears (“Hunter’s Moon” which sounds like a cheap aftershave) only for Moon Knight to defeat him with a baseball bat to the head.

While running the day-to-day operations of the Midnight Mission, Moon Knight dons his Mister Knight persona and dresses in a white business suit rather than his usual caped outfit. It's nice to see Marvel taking a chance on a newer artist, and it's even nicer to see it paying off. He also builds him an interesting supporting cast, complete with a new villain and a character who can best be described as a rival. Together, they form a small army composed of the souls of former avatars of Khonshu, who join forces with Marc Spector in battle. After this, Moon Knight expanded the scope of the Midnight Mission to help other neglected individuals and communities in New York City, not just the wayward undead.
