About this deal

The electronic foot control is ideal when you're working with thicker and more resistant fabrics, and it’s easy to use. This machine will start you sewing and is suitable for dressmaking, crafting and making home furnishings.

With everything you need for your project right there in front of you, sewing becomes a lot more fun. If you’d like to file an allegation of infringement, you’ll need to follow the process described in our Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy. I like the idea of mechanical over computerized because that just sounds more fixable, but it wasn't the computer that went out on her singer. If there are several users (or potential users) in your family, this machine will make an excellent choice. I like to keep my machine very clean and find that having to unscrew the face plate inconvenient, most machines the face plate simply slides off. I’d be purchasing slightly ahead so I can have it pretty much as soon as I’m moved, because I know myself well engouh to know I’ll need to use it almost right away.

It is particularly useful for beginners and equally helpful for more experienced sewing enthusiasts who want to double-check before proceeding with a stitch they rarely use.

I have just purchased online from Hobbycraft the 4400 as I am a relative beginner (did some sewing in my late teens but now 74). I honestly love the machine and was so glad I could replace the original with a machine I could just plug in and sew with. If a domestic machine like the above mentioned Janome or Juki does what someone needs to sew, great.

Although you can sew through faux leather and other thin leather garments, you should avoid using Janome HD3000 for industrial grade leather. And if we can't fix the computer in 4 or 5 years, we probably won't be able to find mechanical parts, either.

It has everything you need for a wide range of sewing projects and it will sew heavy fabrics and leather which is such a great feature. Unfortunately, this limits the flexibility of the HD3000 regarding the size of the fabric you can easily handle. As with any piece of electrical equipment, it's a good idea to have it serviced by a qualified repair professional. The Janome HD3000, although simple in operation, is actually a multipurpose machine that can handle an impressive amount of sewing functions.

I also have the Sailrite LSZ-1 portable walking foot, and I use pretty much exclusively v92 thread with it. When you run the Janome slow it struggles to get through leather, while the Juki clone can go 1 stitch at a time and give me much more control.

Even if I get a more industrial/professional level machine in the future, I don't see myself getting rid of this machine. To make this sewing machine any lighter, I suspect more parts would need to be fabricated out of plastic, and that's not usually a good thing. For the entry level and Mid-range machines, you really can’t go wrong with a Janome who have a machine for all budgets and are considered market leaders in product development.
