But if an author paints himself into a corner where stories and even words can't be edited away, what do you expect?Describes a book or dust jacket that does show some signs of wear on either the binding, dust jacket or pages. I have bought several of these as gifts and my daughter loves the girl version, however the books are grubby having been knocking around the warehouse they do clean up with a bit of work. I read this as dip-in, and that's how I'd recommend it for others: something to have nearby when you're waiting for someone in the car, or whiling away 10 minutes or so. Robertson is also the author of four short story collections, most recently 365: Stories, five poetry collections and numerous children's books written in English and Scots.National There is a huge diversity of subject matter and form across these stories, demonstrating the Scottish novelist's wide-ranging eye, and there is also a lightness; a wink and a playful nod that perhaps Robertson doesn't get to display in his more serious, longer pieces of fiction. And there isn’t enough pictures – it’s hard to read a story when the audience keeps trying to turn the page to find another picture!
