About this deal

We’ve had longer to get to know Yuriko and Gakurouta and understand them better as they embark together on their marriage of convenience. I have seen aroace representation in manga once before, and I thought that was the only piece I would get. And Honami Shirono brings some interesting and valuable insights into what being asexual means for Yuriko. The serious parts are really well done and the depiction of Yuriko is the second best ace representation in manga I’ve seen (everybody go read Sex Ed 120%). I spent the entire volume wondering how Yuriko and Gakurouta had met, learned each other's secrets, and decided to get married.

However, with a disturbing development right at the end of this volume, we’re left on a cliffhanger, wondering if everything’s going to be all right. It's eventually explained that, as an aroace woman, she enjoys romances without women because she doesn't feel obligated to project herself onto any of the participants. There are, of course, plenty of fan theories about which characters read as ace, but as far as canonical content, we still have a ways to go.

This Yen Press trade paperback edition is ably translated by Emma Schumacker with lettering by Alexis Eckerman. It’s nice to see a piece of fiction address how people can feel that kind of connection with the work they partake in. But it doesn’t yet reveal to us exactly how the two protagonists met and decided to commit to a partnership that would be for their ‘convenience’. However, once it becomes clear that they'll never be together due to Incompatible Orientation, she instead accepts Gaku's request to be his shoulder to cry on whenever Sousuke eventually gets married to a woman. became a topic of discussion, and I, again, thought something was wrong with me because I didn’t want to.His stance with a clenched fist and the action lines, demonstrates his determination to be the best husband he can for Yuriko (his wife).

Here are the North American anime, manga, and light novel releases for May Week 1: May 3 - 9 Anime Releases 2. This is a pretty refreshing manga about the FL and ML in an arranged marriage but aren’t in love with each other. The bestselling LGBTQ+ graphic novel about life, love, and everything that happens in between: this is the fifth volume of the Heartstopper series. Yuriko, an asexual woman with a passion for Boys Love stories, agrees to take a husband to satisfy her parents - which is how she finds herself tying the knot with Gakurouta, a gay man in love with his childhood friend with his own family circumstances. Moving from that starting point, this volume suggests that the series will be one filled with love and care.

This one also throws in a little of the ‘friend you had in high school who you were just like and then you both went in different directions’ that many of us have lived through. This is because Yuriko describes herself as asexual and ‘incapable of romantic attraction’ and her new husband, Gakurouta, is gay and still crushing on his childhood friend, Sousuke.

This seems to be Honami Shirono’s second published manga series and her graphic style is attractive and easy to follow within the individual chapters. She’s just married Gakutouta, a gay man who’s in love with his childhood friend, while she herself is an asexual boys love fangirl. The first volume invested me in the lives of these two fully realized characters and never overplayed the premise that they won’t fall in love. FL isn’t really the type to fall in love with anyone (she is a BL fan too) and ML likes fellas, he is in love with his childhood friend. My forced femininity—brought on by a mingling of hormones in the womb, chronic illnesses that have nipped at my heels, and a desperation to prove that my Fat, Black body could be just as sexually and culturally appealing as any straight-sized white one—was once a wall as well.there has been a glimpse into the aroace characters backstory, and her struggle with her lack of sexual attraction, but how she still enjoys romance, when it isn't about her. Sure, Yuriko and Gakurouta’s marriage is a marriage of convenience between friends, but… does it matter less? Peccato, perché i disegni sono molto carini e dai temi trattati poteva risultare una cosa interessante, invece è un minestrone di stereotipi e fetish.
