About this deal

Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at our warehouse. Over four decades in the music business and still going strong, their hit albums and top charting singles continue to captivate millions of fans all over the globe. This collection, however, including Fantasy, In The Stone and Let's Groove draws almost entirely on their peak period, between 1977 and 1981, when Earth, Wind and Fire were arguably the finest pop / funk band on the planet. With certified classics such as "September", "Let's Groove", "Boogie Wonderland", "After The Love Has Gone", "Fantasy" and "Shining Star", this is a must for anyone with a turntable.

The reason for this rambling is to explain why this album is a must have for baby boomers who danced away the 70's and 80's. Since my favorites are "Fantasy", "Reasons", and "After the Love is Gone", you can probably tell that I rented many tiles during the late 70's and early 80's. Often, a couple would stay on one spot for the whole session, which was lovingly referred to as "rent-a-tile". Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places.

You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Throw in "Boogie Wonderland" and "After the Love is Gone" and 1981's "Let's Groove", and you can understand why this compilation would be a 70's/80's party staple. Products labelled '*item fulfilled by Exertis on behalf of hmv' will be supplied to you directly by Exertis via their approved couriers. Featuring all the hits of the 100 million selling band, this album is bursting with groovy, funky, and soulful music. VG+ (Very Good Plus): This record has clearly been played before, but has only a moderate reduction in sound quality, despite a possible slight loss of shine and some surface marks.

Over on disc two, "Help Somebody" is an insanely up-tempo, horn-heavy Boogaloo style romp, while "Momet of Truth" is a low-down funk number straight out of the top drawer. To enable personalised advertising (like interest-based ads), we may share your data with our marketing and advertising partners using cookies and other technologies. It is those reasons that this particular album is always the first one picked from their catalog, and no matter what album is your particular favorite (mines being "That's the Way Of The World"), nothing will change that fact!

The dance floor would usually be in the garage, or patio and the music would be in sets of "fast" music, such as disco, funk or calypso/soca, and "slow" music, which of course became the hold-me-tight session. The onset of electro-funk in the more automated 1980s sadly brought about Earth, Wind and Fire's commercial downfall. Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Earth Wind and Fire's Greatest Hits is perhaps the best collection for both beginners and lifelong fans of the band. Lead singer Philip Bailey gave EWF an extra dimension with his talent for crooning sentimental ballads in addition to funk workouts; behind him, the band could harmonize like a smooth Motown group.

Featuring all the hits of the 100 million-selling band, this album is bursting with groovy, funky, and soulful music. Greatest Hits is available as a limited edition of 3000 individually numbered copies on flaming coloured vinyl, housed in a gatefold sleeve. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. This iconic album showcases the band's signature sound, blending catchy melodies, driving rhythms, and harmonious vocals to create an irresistible musical experience. We also run our own record label, we host a show on Solar radio and produce mixes of our favourite sounds on Mixcloud.

Vinyl Picture Disc, EWF's monumental 1978 anthology, compiled the group's previously charting songs--including "Shining Star," "Sing a Song," "Getaway" and "Fantasy"--alongside new tracks including a cover of the Beatles' "Got to Get You Into My Life" (which won a Best Arrangement with Vocal Grammy for Maurice White) and "September," a song which became an EWF classic, hitting the Top 10 on both sides of the Atlantic. The Crown Jewel in the cover of "The Beatles", "Got To Get You Into My Life", in some peoples eyes is almost better than the original (I feel like it was kind of equal).
