About this deal

At the time of its release, this was the highest-spec e-ink tablet (and it is still not too shabby today). Si vous cherchez une table e-ink pour la productivité, le onyx boox tab ultra sera probablement préférable, mais aussi 120 euros de plus.

The distributor, Onyx, says that "the device is designed primarily for reading ebooks, but it also has some additional features which are defined by the installed software.Due to the fact that part of the Flash memory is occupied by the system software, the memory available to the user is less than the total memory of the flash chip. Oddly, the Note Air 2 doesn't highlight individual words as it reads them, something Kindle's Immersion Reading feature is supposed to do. There are no ports or buttons on the top, bottom or right sides of the tablet, while the left side sports the power button and USB-C port, as well as the loudspeaker.

The magnetic tri-fold magnetic case, which is compatible with the Note Air2 Plus, provides sturdy and secure protection for your device. Thanks to the screen's finish, it's frictionless to the finger, feeling supremely smooth, and yet when you use the pen with it, there's a near paper-like tactility. If, however, you want something for general media consumption, you’d be better off with a traditional tablet. Barely thicker than the USB-C port used to charge it, the Note Air 2 Plus has a unibody metal back and sides. I really liked the standard Boox pen it comes with which provides a very realistic writing experience. The scrolling buttons on the cover case also change their functions according to the orientation of the screen. The model is based on the Android 11 operating system, so the user can install different applications from Google Play which significantly expand the abilities of the device. Onyx gives you various refresh rate settings that either keep text sharp or make the screen fluid enough for YouTube videos at the cost of ghosting. There are no LEDs here, but you can alter screen brightness from the pull-down menu, choosing between yellow or blue light and dimming options, which I found worked great in most environments.

Das Gerät an sich ist gut bedienbar (ja, es ist langsamer als ein normales Tablet, aber es ist auch ein e-Ink Display und auch augenschonende und lange Betriebszeit optimiert). Not relying on cumbersome workarounds to get my notes into the applications that I use most is a powerful differentiator, and makes this tablet a no-brainer to use on a daily.About that underlining: One reason this is the ideal academic device is the native software's ability to fluidly annotate PDFs on the fly. In this era of online learning, the Onyx Boox Note Air might be the perfect sidekick for both professors and college students.

However, the people at Onyx haven't quite figured out how to make the security pin page flip, so I have to log in right handed and turn the device around. In terms of storage, the 64GB offering was more than enough for my needs, with plenty of space remaining even after downloading the 1,369-page behemoth that is Stephen King’s IT.Flipping through a 172-page PDF with the backlight on half brightness didn't reduce the battery by even 1%. But first, I want to take a moment to discuss the differences between the Boox Note Air2+ and Boox Tab Ultra.
