I can now wholeheartedly say that Blade Runner: The Final Cut is my definitive director's cut of the film. Grain can be slightly exacerbated, and contrast sometimes wavers in consistency during effects shots. I was already happy knowing that the film was getting a good and proper 4K image transfer, but this new Atmos mix is really something special and I feel it sets an important benchmark for audio presentations for classic movies - I'm looking at you Close Encounters of the Third Kind! One is simply that adding HDR - and quite aggressive HDR at that - to a relatively old film that wasn’t designed for it can bring out noise that was scarcely be noticeable at ‘SDR’ light levels.Blade Runner' is making its Blu-ray debut in two configurations -- 'The Complete Collector's Edition' and 'The Ultimate Collector's Edition. At which point it’s high time I started talking about all the impressive stuff about the 4K HDR Blade Runner transfer. This long-anticipated follow-up to Ridley Scott's 1982 cult classic struggled to connect with viewers . Finally, if by some miraculous phenomenon you are actually reading this review but still haven't seen 'Blade Runner,' don't let all this talk of multiple versions scare you off.

Vangelis' amazing score is crystal clear as well and this TrueHD presentation reveals even more layers of synthesized bass and atmosphere in this revolutionary soundtrack. The five discs full of extras are also extraordinary, and it's hard to imagine any 'Blade Runner' fan wanting more.
