About this deal

He plays Beau, a middle-aged man now living in squalor and stricken with depression, regularly seeing a therapist (Stephen McKinley Henderson) for anxiety and taking meds. Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter to see more news and updates on upcoming films, and you can find the official A24 Twitter page at https://twitter. She talks about being sorry for what his dad had passed down to him, so Beau clearly has a fairly chunky skeleton somewhere in his closet. Running at over three hours, Beau Is Afraid is a colossal recovered memory of mock Oedipal agony which is scary, boring and sad in approximate proportions of 1 to 4 to 2.

Banksy’s Valentine’s day artwork highlighting violence against women was dismantled just hours after being unveiled, with council officials citing health and safety reasons. Beau Is Afraid began life as a short film that Aster made in 2011, in which the late Billy Mayo played a man attempting to exit his apartment who leaves the keys in the front door, only for them to disappear – with creepy consequences. Meanwhile, Dune actor Stephen McKinley Henderson stars as Beau’s therapist, and Parker Posey plays Elaine, Beau’s childhood love.

Whatever the case, it is sure to be, like Hereditary and Midsommar before it, quite the cinematic ride. Mark Kermode's review for The Guardian found the film was "sprawlingly picaresque" and "a rambling, labyrinthine, navel-gazing romp. Stage 6 also acquired rights from A24 in Middle East, worldwide ships and airlines and pan Asia pay TV.

Viewers are sure to be impressed by Aster's prodigious imagination and technical skill, amused by his gallows humour, and amazed by some of the outrageous images he puts on screen.nudity There is strong nudity, including sight of a man's testicles, and crude images or visual allusions to erect male genitalia. He looks around the home now that everyone is gone and sees in his mother’s office photos of some of the people he met on his journey who tried to stop him. Ich mochte Hereditary und Midsommar, also habe ich mir auch Asters jüngstes Werk, Beau is Afraid aus dem Jahr 2023, zu Gemüte geführt.

As a teenager on a cruise trip with his mother, Beau meets and falls in love with a girl named Elaine. On its own, this opening 45-minute section works as a profoundly misanthropic satirical farce about the stresses of contemporary city life, with more visual gags, and more male nudity, than most raucous Hollywood comedies. Why they now make him look like THIS is symbolic (or result of wife’s drug company) because earlier in Beau’s apartment there’s a normal photograph if him on the wall hammering in a nail. Right now, it's unclear what she's referring to but it's clear Beau is a troubled character and the trailer follows him in a number of locations, some more abstract than others. He’s trying to get home to see his mum, but he’s got a whole world of fear to get through along the way. The film had been in development by Ari Aster for some time, with a 2011 short film entitled Beau, that would later serve as the basis for a sequence in the feature film, and a 2014 draft of the script that circulated on the internet.

It’s a A24 production, so it should arrive in the UK at the same time as in the UK if you look at their previous releases. The therapist doesn't believe that the journey will be easy, because Beau is weighed down by guilt, but actually there are more practical obstacles. A man in a catastrophic mental episode attempts to make it to his mother's funeral in this dark comedy which is unsettling, psychological and at times brutal. If Beau Is Afraid does come out in April 2023 it should then get a DVD, Blu-ray and digital release date in the UK around August later in the year. Beau is Afraid is arriving in cinemas in the US on April 21, 2023, after a slight delay from its anticipated 2022 release. The Beau Is Afraid age rating for the UK will be confirmed by the British Board of Film Classification when we get a little closer to the release date. It’s a long film though and the madness did become exhausting for me a little over half way through. His own bare apartment is something of a refuge from this savage Gotham, but when he gets there after the therapy session, he is greeted by a sign on his door saying that a poisonous spider is loose in the building, and angry notes from a neighbour complaining about the volume of his music – even though he isn't playing any music.
