There are 7 minifigures - Okoye, Doctor Strange, Captain America, Spider-Man, Wong, Iron Man and Black Widow - plus mini builds and accessories that kids will recognise from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including a mini Quinjet and the Hydra Train. There are some huge missing characters – I feel like Thor would’ve made the perfect Santa Claus, and a seasonal variant would’ve been nice. This version of Okoye is slightly uncommon, as it’s only appeared once in 76214 Black Panther: War on the Water, so if you didn’t pick up that set, you’re in luck as this is a fairly affordable way to add this Okoye variant to your collection. Just wish we would have had a classic Disney character calendar this year for the 100th anniversary.

He comes with some magical green effects for his hands, but he looks so strange (heh) without his trusty red sentient cloak. Thankfully we’re back to an area where the 2023 LEGO Marvel Advent Calendar shines – the minifigure department! Also *spoilers ahead * Lego gives you thors hammer on a Christmas mantle, and you would think he would be in the next window but he is nowhere to be found!This one is quite clever conceptually, and I appreciate that they managed to combine a festive component with an Avengers reference in a way that makes plenty of sense. When you open your door and get a cape while your spouse has an entire little spaceship to build it’s a bit boring. It seems that every year is hit or miss as far which advent theme will be great and which will fall short. We LOVE lego in our house of 4 boys and don't see it stopping anytime soon but please do better next year lego.
