About this deal

It is not affiliated with Marvel Entertainment, LLC and is an unofficial community owned and operated by dedicated fans.

The cover was of hin standing in the middle, with defeated heroes lying about around him, and he's smiling and goes "Who, me? As his unwitting fictional sidekick you are responsible for surviving his hazards, cleaning up his mess, suffering the consequences of his recklessness and, when necessary, going against his demands altogether.

It's an interactive game book with the readers where you get to pick the choices Deadpool makes and each choice has a different outcome and keeps you curious to find out what would happen next. As with all game-books, players are armed with a pen, paper and dice to complete all manner of skill rolls as they navigate the multiple-choice narrative. Players can accrue these secondary attributes such as “Chaos” based on their choices, that’ll force them into certain paths later on in the story – it’s similar to videogames with a morality system. Like I always say, Aconyte Books Authors have this way of bringing the Marvel character's personalities into the books with ease that you don't miss that familiarity you're used to seeing in conics and movies.

I even got as far as a boss battle, which led to three further branches, showing this to have a ridiculous scale – ages ago I had been invited to leave the airborne examination side of the book. I definitely did (I even had a Goosebumps one that I read so many times some of the pages started falling out). Things seem weird, even by Deadpool's standards, when Matt ';Daredevil' Murdock offers him a profitable nay, straightforward! The story in suitably bonkers fashion fits you as a lackey, sidekick, note-taker and so on to Deadpool, in his mission to prevent alien weapon tech being smuggled to someone here on Earth. Overall, this was an interesting idea on interactive superhero game book for readers who are fans of gaming and comics as well. This book definitely reminded me of my school days where choose your own adventure books had come out. Well, anybody wanting to be allowed to read a particular book has to create a profile, and hope that their request to review it is accepted. There seems to be plenty of alternate endings and the achievements section in the end of the book encourages multiple play-throughs. The anarchic and tongue-in-cheek tone of You are (not) Deadpool definitely distinguishes it from other books of the same format and helps create a unique relationship between reader, protagonist and author. Get this, You're sitting by your window, watching the sunset and listening to the honking down below on the street.
