About this deal

All these effects sounded clear, defined and had an almost addictive quality, coming through the iRig HD 2's interface. Monitoring was quick and i was not able to detect lag from processing the bass to the in ear monitors with the fx loop switched off. One other feature we should mention is a GAIN adjustment knob, so you can get the ideal input gain that doesn’t cause unwanted distortion (the bad kind of distortion, that is). All the high gain settings I tried at various volumes sounded full and studio-quality, like you would expect out of a full rig. iRig HD 2 features an unbalanced 1/4" Amp Out jack that you can use to send your processed or unprocessed guitar signal to an external amplifier, floor tuner or completely different rig setup for live performance.

Windows 10 should handle the HD 2 in a similar fashion, and I do know that the Amplitube 5 SE software works great on both Mac and PC platforms. I’ve been looking at the iRig2 HD for a while now, it seems like a budget-friendly option for recording guitar.

It’s way better than I had hoped/expected and as it works with a number of apps you’ll be able to pick and choose from the various features offered by the different apps. In summary, the iRig HD 2 offers a quick and easy way to capture guitar, bass and line signals on the go. The easiest thing is to use the headphone jack in the HD 2, though there are a number of different options.

It offers a 1/4-inch instrument preamp with adjustable gain, plus a new multicolour LED gain wheel to easily dial in the perfect level.Dozens (if not hundreds) of stompboxes and guitar amp models are at your fingertips, so you can experiment and fully customize your rig to your taste. The iRig HD 2 strikes a really good balance of being simple and intuitive enough to pick up and figure out within minutes, yet includes a ton of features which makes it very versatile.

It turns out to be that the version of Amplitube provided with iRig is extremely limited – purely a demo. Guitar Chalk does not accept payment for our reviews, nor do we spend time reviewing products that we believe to be a waste of your time. iRig HD 2 is the only guitar/bass interface that comes with full versions of the industry’s top selling tones studio software and apps. This means that you'll be able to perform at your best no matter whether you're connecting a wailing 3 humbucker electric guitar or a jazzy archtop to your iPhone. It’s an ideal solution that will allow me to practice more often, without having to deal with a cheap-sounding headphone amp. You can then use programs like AmpliTube 5 (full or SE version) to run effects and amp models, or to record and produce your own music. It is sleek, compact, and wonderfully portable, so you can use it anywhere and always achieve a stress-free, tidy setup. This covers you for the latest generation of iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices, and it also gives you the flexibility to connect directly to your Mac or PC.
