About this deal
There are a few other radios on the market now with this feature though, so don't think that the HD1 is the only radio that has it. DMR Compatibility: Compatible with Motorola Tier I and Tier II, as well as ETSI digital protocols TS 102 361-1, -2, -3. The speaker on the HD1 is the best one I’ve seen in a handheld radio, super loud and really good quality audio, you will never struggle to hear this radio that’s for sure!
This issue has been reported to Ailunce, but they haven't given any official response which I think means it's a hardware problem that they're not planning to fix. Besides other issues I had with this radio (and even the tune tool will not improve the BER and somebody else is reporting terrible BER with DM1701 hotspot in this forum) I would strongly suggest this new version is just a waste of money. Some systems have advanced 24/7 logging and just keying up a couple of times on a repeater on a unused talkgroup with a unknown radio ID while the place is closed is enough to alert someone in the morning that there has been an intruder! The CPS is not intuitive and it's hard to find good instructions on how to get a good code plug made. Dual Repeater Slots and Dual Point-to-Point Slots: The HD1 offers dual repeater time slots and dual point-to-point time slots, enabling efficient communication and maximizing the use of available resources. If you mess with licenced business users they can get RAS and/or encryption activated or just give up on radio altogether for PTToC/VoIP systems and you will have nothing to listen in on. This connector would have been chosen over the normal Kenwood 2 pin connector that most Chinese radios use because it remains waterproof even when the cover is not in place. Please, don’t try to use this or any of the other cheap Chinese radios aimed at amateur radio operators for anything mission critical.
This is very annoying and seems to be caused by the radio still detecting a signal on the channel even though it’s supposed to ignore it if the CTCSS doesn’t match what you have set. I use the radio in single VFO mode and have the clock on the other, I like having my screen timeout set to continuous and having the clock always visible is good to have and I have found that it does not affect the battery life much at all! Multiple reviews of the same product by one person will unfairly bias/skew the product average rating numbers. The radio is rated as water and dust proof to IP67, which means you should be able to submerse it in water and it'll still work fine.If you mess with hams they are liable to try DF and report you or will just blank you if you do get the licence. The AILUNCE HD1 handheld radio operates in analogue and digital modes using TDMA technology and is fully DMR compliant, Tier I and Tier II compliant.
