Take your time when enjoying Fortaleza Tequila because they certainly put a lot of time and love into making it. Little by little it became better known and bigger until it finally developed into a big empire and sold its products internationally. The piñas are then slowly steam-cooked for 36 hours, powered by the distillery’s 115-year-old vintage boiler.

With a small brick oven to cook the agave, a tahona to squeeze out the juices, wood tanks for fermentation, and the 2 original copper pots for distillation. This is a superb, perfectly aged añejo with deep, rich and complex notes -exceptionally satisfying and a treat in every sense. No additives (sugar,glycerine,colorant) On the Nose I get Agave then a slight bubblegum fallowed by grilled pineapple.

Presented in a hand-blown Mexican glass bottle, it features a hand-made stopper shaped like agave pinas for a full experience from the moment you open it. Our propietary matching algorithm uses nine different characteristics to find the best matches for you.

Guillermo Sauza, with a deep family background in tequila, reintroduced the long-abandoned traditions of his ancestors by establishing Fortaleza in 2005.It is a very rich and complex tequila and those with a very good nose will be able to detect pineapple, peach, orange blossom and nutmeg. Once cooled, the sweet juice is extracted with a 2-ton tahona wheel (large round volcanic stone) that crushes the cooked agave under its weight.
