Kill Team: Chalnath is the first expansion to the new edition of Kill Team (launched over the summer with the Kill Team: Octarius boxed set). Field Punishment on the other hand is used for when your operatives just utterly fail you – used when an operative is incapacitated and doesn’t perform any mission actions, you can remove it from your team and replace it with a Novitate Penitent with the same scars/honours/experience. These are Adepta Sororitas in-training, who must prove themselves in battle to earn the right to wear power armour and wield a bolter.The more zealous your Novitiates are in the prosecution of their duties – skulking around, sneaking about, covertly chunking enemy operatives with giant swords – the more points you earn to spend on Acts of Faith. Now as both sides fight across the system, multiple kill teams are sent to sortie missions over key battle zones. For these types of items we have to use a courier service and in this case the cost will vary depending on size and weight etc. There’s the Rules Collection, which has the Core Book, the Compendium, and the Tactical Ops cards you need.

We’ll keep it brief and not too in-depth, though, so we won’t spoil too much of what waits inside should any of you be eager readers. There’s also a new grenade that’s super helpful for the Pathfinder strategy: The Markerlight Grenade, which can drop markerlights on multiple enemy targets at the same time.Still, the actions themselves are evocative and there are some solid narrative hooks here for GMs who want to incorporate this into something more narratively-focused. Similar to that box, inside Chalnath you get: the Chalnath campaign book, the Novitiate Kill Team, the Pathfinder Kill Team, a lot of terrain sprues (similar to those found in the Kill Team 2018 core set) and then a game board and instruction manual for building. There’s also the Essentials Collection, which has everything the Rules Collection has as well as some tokens, some gauges, and a few bits of scenery. She has a range of wargear available to her (and, as you’ll see from her sprue, some fantastic hats), while her Lead by Example special rule lets her activate another Novitiate if she does something cool, like incapacitate an enemy. You’ll be taking over missile launch systems, destabilising the foundations of critical buildings, and smuggling high-value targets through enemy lines.

Purge the Unclean requires you to win six games, then finish a game after scoring the “Purge with Flame” Tac Op. Destroy Foundations is also an interesting premise, but again while planting demolitions around the board is an interesting concept, as a mission it’s going to do its best narrative work when you can connect it to something else, since otherwise it’s just running around doing actions. Exclusive equipment is here in the shape of 8 pieces of wargear, such as Fusion Grenades, Orbital Scan and Target Analysis Optics. Inside these 96 pages, you’ll find full rules and background for both Adepta Sororitas Novitiates and T’au Pathfinder Kill Teams, datacards (including fillable blanks to copy), equipment lists, Spec Ops rules including Rare Equipment, and nine Shadow Operations missions for use in your games of Kill Team.
