While I was waiting for the new base unit I borrowed a thread tap to see if the damaged thread would recut which it did so the pedal would fit ok. Sturdy bike and relatively quiet to begin with apart from a swishing sound as l pedalled, however after a few sessions it started to make a loud clanking noise when pedalling like something had come loose in the internal mechanism. The pulse rate monitors that are built into the handles work well; but if you really want to track your heart rate accurately then you can use a Polar compatible heart rate monitor, which works well with the IC400 Pro. The Q Factor (the distance between feet) is 200mm, which is optimal for both comfort and attaining high speeds. This simply adjusts the distance between the magnet and the wheel, meaning you are not limited to a set number of resistance levels – you are in complete control of how little or how much you increase or decrease the resistance.

Luckily, the floor space required is not huge when compared to other forms of home cardio such as treadmills, and there are also handy transport wheels that make moving the 53kg bike from one place to another much easier.This home exercise bike has stunning looks, and a size / quality that would be worthy of any commercial studio. The quiet aspect of the flywheel is also ideal for those of you who are looking to keep the noise to a minimum whilst working out from home.

We tested the IC400 Pro with users who were 5’3″ and 6’2″, and both were able to find perfectly comfortable positions with room for more variance either way, which makes this model one of the most adaptable for a range of users. For those looking for high intensity workouts though, it is hard to beat the IC400 Pro and when combining it with a heart rate strap and a third party app – it is hard to beat.
