As much as I wanted to like this product, I do not think I could recommend it at this point in time while there are other, similar, and more reliable products on the market. The Flamestower does not always charge this slow, but I could find no rhyme or reason to it; it seemed randomly it would come back closer to its nominal range of 5vDC at 2. The trouble with that is that batteries die and finding a sustainable way to replenish them when off the grid is tricky at best. Modern living has so many benefits, but it has it’s weaknesses as well, such as in the case of smartphones, tablets and anything else that runs on a limited power source that requires charging from a USB outlet.

The main thing that separates FlameStower from others on the market is the fact that it will work with any open flame.
