We hear that reviews don't matter and that seems true when poorly-reviewed films do big business anyway. When compared to its predecessor and to all the other movies in the studio's canon, Cars 2 disappoints.

It's kind of sad hearing Lasseter's enthusiasm for the project and being unable to share it, but at least that makes this track more memorable than the comparable ones attached to all of the studio's excellent films and an easily recommended listen. Outfitted with rocket boosters, a hologram-generating computer rig, and all sorts of other James Bond-ish gizmos and gadgets, it's up to Mater to -- wait for it! The animation of PIXAR is captured beautifully by the resolution capabilities of Bluray and the rich depth that they introduce into their productions is stunning. The fictional Porto Corsa is bathed in warm, southern European sunlight, with a sparkling blue bay and rustic architecture.The film's story was conceived by Lasseter while he was traveling around the world promoting the first film. I'm not one of those guys who's been camped out in a deck chair waiting to see the mighty Pixar stumble and fall, and I'm not going to start moaning about how Cars 2 is "the end of an era! Mater, you know, isn't a smart vehicle, so wouldn't it be really funny if he kept luckily avoiding danger and being mistaken for a master agent? A bunch of critics and reviewers out there have been kind of brutal towards Cars 2, but I don't think the movie aims high and misses; John Lasseter is just kicking back and having fun making a high-octane spy flick for kids.
