The second holiday we had a mixture of rain/wind and a heatwave (yes all in 15 days but expected in the UK). Being able to stand up is a big bonus over my “umbrella style” quick pitch tent, which is ideal for overnight stops. Snapped tension bands, guy rope tighteners did not hold, leaks via side door, awning ripped from trim near clips, another clip had failed stitching, stitching incomplete around one of sleeping compartment doors. The tent has two zipped full mesh doors, providing an entrance at the front and side of the tent, and two zipped half mesh inner doors, offering extra privacy.

The ground sheet rises up further than the previous version and at first we kept tripping up going in and out. The spacious front porch is great for storing gear, furniture, bikes etc, and large windows give great all-round visibility and let light in. We're comfort campers so have a big inflatable mattress in the sleeping area and then all our crap in the front bit. Normally, these 3-berth master bedrooms would never accommodate 3 adults; however, in this instance, the Vango Icarus 500DLX just might. It is easy to pitch, comfortable and spacious, making it suitable for beginners and occasional campers.The seconds bedroom is slightly over 120 cms in width, so you’d not fit a normal double mattress in it, but a small double like this would slide in easily.

For optimum comfort, whack a tent carpet in the living area and line the sleeping area with blankets before lying sleeping mats on the top. Just back from a very wet week in Cornwall and only a few drips of rain in living area, because front guy rope came out overnight. I have come a cross with all type of weather with vango iracus 500 dlx , I will definitely recommend this tent . It fits onto the front of the Vango Icarus 500 DLX, adding an extra 10 square metres to the already spacious living space, increasing the overall size to above 15 square metres.In the living area I had 2 folding chairs, a folding single camping table, kitchen equipment under the table in boxes, and a camping stove which you screw gas canisters in to, very economical.
