This definitely captures his younger appearance and NECA did a great job on the details of the outfit. NECA presents a new line of 7" action figures based on the Starz TV series ‘Ash Vs Evil Dead’, the sequel of the legendary Evil Dead movie series in the 80s and 90s, that tells of the adventures of Ash, 30 years after the events of ‘Army of Darkness’. The torso has both an ab crunch hinge and a ball joint under the chest and the neck is ball jointed at the base and where it attaches to the head.

Anyway, this version of Ash is from Episode 8, where he’s fashioned himself a new set of battle fatigues from the remains of a straight jacket. In addition to the chainsaw arm and extra head, Ash comes with his trusty Boomstick, and yup, it’s the same one that came with Hero Ash. They then moved on to producing a series of highly detailed cult classic figures similar to McFarlane’s Movie Maniacs. They mention that it comes with some really good accessories, such as an amazing likeness and all the interchangeable weapons.

The elbows are the site of the second issue I have with this figure, too: The range of motion there is fairly limited. This NECA Ash 7" scale action figure is highly articulated and has been given the Ultimate treatment and comes complete with four interchangeable head sculpts, chainsaw, mechanical hand, wood hand, hand stump, photo of his car, and shotgun that fits in a back holster so he comes with everything needed to fight a plague of Deadites once again.

At first, I was a little disappointed they were going this route, it is a bit of a cliche, but they really sold it to me thanks in no part to some absolutely fantastic acting on behalf of Bruce Campbell and Dana DeLorenzo, not to mention the addition of an adorable possessed Ash puppet. The packaging consists of standard window boxes, which share the same cool deco as the packages from the first wave. But that must be a similar feeling to the one I got when my last wave of NECA’s Ash Vs Evil Dead figures arrived.

Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the iconic cult classic movie The Evil Dead, NECA is excited to release a special Ultimate Ash 7” scale action figure! I really had to go back and look at how different Bruce looked between the first and second films and, as I mentioned earlier, he even looks different in the promotional materials and such as they seem to have been created a good year or two after filming. They mention that it is a great figure, has an amazing likeness, and comes with some really good accessories.If I was going to limit myself to just a single Ash figure from the series, I’d say Hero Ash is still my favorite, but this one comes in at a close second.

Everything is done very professionally with this company and always lets you know every step of the process. But NECA’s been good about doing the creatures in this one, as this is the third version of the Demon Spawn. The problem is that the package clearly shows Ash holding his axe over his shoulder and behind his head like the movie-poster/ publicity shot I mentioned earlier.I was thrilled that the summer after I finished 8th grade while staying with my grandmother I happened to find a VHS copy of Army of Darkness which belonged to one of my uncles. The sleeves are nearly ripped off, it’s loaded with cuts and tears, and he’s got a series of belts around his torso holding it together. In the case of Asylum Ash, you get a really nice portrait with Ash smirking and another with a more grim, downturned mouth.
