About this deal

Engineered to resist rust and damage, this is a kitchen tool designed for those who are serious about their baking. Unfortunately, we encountered many of the same issues with the Good Cook rolling pin that we did with the Faberware model. The long length was great for working with larger pieces of cookie dough, and it let me rest my hands anywhere along the length of the pin to provide pressure where it was needed. Depending on the need, the appropriate ring can be selected and the rest can be removed quite simply. The surface of the pin is non-stick coated and on first attempt with biscuit dough I tried without the usual dusting of flour.

The wooden pin is beautifully smooth, and we're impressed with how easily pastry can be rolled out without using much pressure. If you’re making large pizzas, or you need to roll out large sheets of pastry or cookie dough, a long rolling pin makes it easier to get an even thickness. You don’t turn the dial, nor slip on and off different sized discs, the pin does all that for you, you simply place the pin down on the dough with the correct number facing upwards and roll. We love the colour of the silicone-covered roller and the three bands on the handles, which also make it supremely comfy to hold. While some materials are better for specific doughs, the choice is often more about personal preference. Faberware Classic Wood Rolling Pin: This rolling pin was previously included in our round-up, but after testing it out first-hand, we found that the construction wasn't as sturdy as we thought it would be. Wet dough can be removed with a soft brush under running water, or the pin can be set aside until the dough dries out so it’s easier to brush away. You should also note that the picture images show only our serving suggestions of how to prepare your food - all table accessories and additional items and/or ingredients pictured with the product you are purchasing are not included.

Springy homemade pizzas or delicate dumplings also all start with a quick roll on a floured surface. Given the size, we find the pin to be surprisingly light and lovely to hold, but for some it may be too long. You hold the pin with the chosen thickness number facing upwards, put the pin onto the dough and then roll. And while the pie dough we tested didn't stick to the rolling pin, it wasn't able to handle rolling it up and transferring it to a pie plate either, without sliding right off the rolling pin. Excellent for easily rolling out yeast dough, cake dough and potato dough, marzipan and fondants into any desired thickness. We judged whether extra features, such as adjustable rings or flour shakers, worked well and were valuable inclusions. If the pin is not very wide, your hands may creep into the rolling area, making it harder to manoeuvre.

We paid close attention to the design of the rolling pin, including the comfort of the handle and any resultant wrist fatigue. But if you're like me and just want to roll out your dough with no muss, fuss, or uneven areas, the Joseph Joseph Rolling Pin will be your new best friend. Since there are no moving parts and no seams or nooks that can collect flour or dough, it's easier to clean. The Joseph Joseph Adjustable Rolling Pin with measuring rings solves this problem and makes rolling out dough a breeze.
