I can manually release it via the hatch in the back seats, this alowwex me to find the broken wires on the hinge, replaced it with a brand new genuine vauxhall one, still no joy the boot doesnt open and the roof doesnt work. Came to this forum for answers but then figured out if I press the unlock button twice in quick succession then it opens the boot no problem. To fix the issue with your sunroof, I recommend having a professional mechanic check your vehicle to determine the cause of the problem and make any necessary repairs.

I've checked the fuses beneath the bonnet, I believe number 11 is accountable for this - and it's not burnt, completely fine. I have experienced similar problems before but find it hard to imagine a relay works as a standalone device for one unit, ie. It might sound like a random question, but, on the GTC, is the boot button on the keyfob supposed to work? You may NOT copy or distribute the content that appears on this site without written permission from Fixya Ltd. does it work with the button inside the car and have you tried both key fobs, do you get any bonging noises etc when you try, the twintop is renowned for roof wiring loom problems on the left hand side as Vauxhall made the wiring too brittle and as it flexes up and down with use eventually small breaks appear and require fixing.Either the locking mechanism has gone bad, the wiring that goes through the rubber boot is broken or the microswitch that you press, when wanting to open the boot is bad. Fold both front seats fforwards and move as far forward as you can, between the two back seat backrests (where your back rests) is what i thought to be an armrest but is a secret hatch into the boot space, i looked through the hatch to the boot lid and noticed a looped cable near to where the boot lock is, i combined a hook tool and some threaded bar i had laying around and welded them together to make a tool long enough to pull the cord and this releases the boot lid!

If it is the same as a 2006 Astra hatch, drop down your back seat to gain access to the boot area, you should see a round plastic cap on the plastic fascia of the boot lid, remove the cap with a flat object, get a quarter drive extension bar with tee bar on the end, push the bar well into the hole, you will feel a small spring effect, turn the bar and the boot lid should release.There are 3 pins inside the lock plastic socket, one had corroded completely away, sure that is the one that brings the boot light on. however this doesn't really help as i cannot see any obvious wiring breaks at the small loom at the joint. I removed the plastic panel reverse of boot lid, very tight clips, some stay on the boot lid, remove them carefully.I have checked the fuse for the tailgate central locking using a multimeter and it was fine (not to mention on these you can visually see whether or not the fuse has blown) so logic would dictate that something is preventing the signal getting to the mechanism. The other weird thing ive found is there is a switch/sensor on the n/s hinge, normal position is for it to be out, if i press the switch in and operate the boot switch it operates the lock as per normal, so i thought the switch was faulty and replaced with a genuine vauxhall one, still the same. Will release the boot lid tomorrow from inside the car and check the wiring, but the car has only done 50,000 miles. Once i got the tailgate open, i was able to visually inspect the wiring a little and couldn't see anything obvious but given the time of night and i was working with a torch i didn't want to try removing the grommet to do a proper inspection of the wiring so that is something i will do when there is more time and better light. I opened the roof and as I started driving, I started hearing this annoying noice, signaling that the boot is open.
