In our family, we’ve actually never used a traditional changing table with either child. So it was great to have something that made diaper changes easy to do anywhere and everywhere. I’ve changed diapers on a table, the floor, the couch—you get the picture.

Each JPMA approved Keekaroo Peanut Changer includes the Soft-to-the-Touch diaper changing pad, safety strap and 5 year warranty! Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to use a Skip Hop Nursery Style Change Pad. If I do have the chance to try it out in the future, I’ll be sure to update this post. Size: Before purchasing a changing pad, make sure that it’s the right size to fit either your changing table or the top of your dresser if you plan to use it this way. The changing pads on our list range from 29 inches to 36 inches long and 16 and 21 inches wide (with the exception of portable and disposable options that may be smaller). It’s not as well angled as the Peanut, meaning if your baby pees during a diaper change, the pee will pool around their body using the Leander Matty (and the Bumbo, and the Hatch). This is in contrast to the Keekaroo, where the pee runs down towards their feet due to the slightly steeper angle of the surface. You can also do as Leah did, and choose from a selection of changing pad covers in a range of adorable designs and patterns to add a design element to your nursery. Some reviewers say messes can soak through the surface of this pad, but most say using the liner should prevent messes from getting through to the interior foam. While it isn’t available in the same pretty neutral that the Keekaroo is (which, I mean, let’s be real, is definitely a selling point for neutral-loving mamas), it does come in grey.

There are a lot of changing pads out there: Some are high-end with bells and whistles, while others are simple yet effective for the intended purpose. Once you’ve decided on a budget and what features are important to you (such as having a pad you can wipe clean or one made of organic materials), it’ll be a lot easier to narrow down your decision. While theoretically you’ll want to keep an eye on baby’s weight to ensure you don’t go past the limit on these (usually around 30 pounds), realistically your kid will probably be long out of diapers and changing pads (at the very least doing standing changes) by the time they surpass the weight restriction. Its safety features made me feel secure in using it, and the high-quality durable material was also a huge perk, as it can last for years and even be passed down or sold as a secondhand baby product. It’s made of a synthetic rubber material (polyurethane polymer elastomer) – the same material Keekaroo uses in their infant inserts, boosters, and cushions. I will also mention that the Changer is slip resistant and comes with a safety strap. Once my daughter moved into her crib, I simply placed my Keekaroo on top of the dresser in her room (as pictured below), and I have never had any difficulties with it moving out of place. When she was little and sleeping in the bassinet in our room, I would simply plop it on top of our bed when we needed to change her and then store it vertically next to our dresser in between changing. Keekaroo Peanut Changer Optimally, the changing pad should be where the baby sleeps. This means if they’re in their own room, it should go there. If they’re in a bassinet in your room, it’s likely easier for it to be there. Especially in the beginning, you want close access to a changing station for middle of the night changes.
